Not much left out there to recruit now.Would have to get Smith and Johnson. Most of the big time guards are already signed.

Get ready for the 1/2 and done jokes and hit pieces.

Cal will catch a lot of heat from our fans from this one if he stays in the draft, probably deservedly so. Not a good look with this one.

Only a dumbass would think Cal looks bad for this.

EVERY team would have taken him.

It is absolutely STUPID to tell the #1 SG and your top guard recruit -

"No we won't accept your commitment and allow you to come early because you might enter the draft without ever playing a game"

You all watched the 30 for 30. They said Cal was a trend setter. None and done.

Joking, as I do think he comes back. But if he does stay, the backlash will be heavy.

Coach cal tweeting he has gotten so much better in the four months he has been with us. Then why the hell did you not play him? We needed that type of player all year. If he goes pro for good, this will be Coach Cals biggest mess up as a coach.

If I'm not mistaken, I seem to recall that the coaches approached Diallo during the season once about playing.

He declined.

What else could Cal do?

Not ready to suit up for college basketball games but ready enough to test the waters in the NBA Draft and play with the big boys...OK Like already mentioned, shocked he didn't declare sooner. No surprise he's not hiring an agent at this moment. If his game has improved like many say it has, he could wow scouts enough to stay in because potential is what the draft is all about.

If that was the case then play him!! What good does this do with recruiting? We accept players to come in and go to school for half a semester and leave. Come to uk. We will prepare you for the NBA without any games.

Exactly. And his commitment didn't cost UK any top 2017 guards. I'm sorry, it just didn't. UK was gonna have the two frosh they have coming in now (and the new kid Baker) regardless.

I think people are overreacting. People trying to "decipher" that he is "probably" gone due to the wording of a tweet lack basic common sense and intelligence. I have no idea what he will do, but he probably won't look good enough to get anywhere near a first round draft grade from a NBA team.

I agree that every other team would have taken him, but not every other team has the annual roster turnover and reliance on freshmen that we do. The risk/reward is different for us than it is for just about any other team out there in a situation like this.

It is frustrating, but the kid wanted to come and practice, most likely not expose himself to the pros after what his HS coach said.

He and Cal had an agreement, can't change and force the kid to play.

I guess he realized he is better than Briscoe and others and thinks if they can do it he has a shot.

The elite guys leaving early doesn't bother me. It's the mid-level guys like Teague, Lamb, Humphries, Briscoe, etc. I don't know what category Diallo falls into but it would be a bummer to not even have him for a season. But hey, draft picks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So you would have told him no, he can't come early?

Can't disagree on the briscoe part.

Well if he comes back that's great and if he doesn't why did he come here and leave before he played one season. It's bad enough to see several leave every year but I don't want anybody to come here and leave before they play one minute. If it's true it could have knocked Kentucky out of getting somebody who wanted to play here that would at least stayed one year.

Interesting to me that he even put out a statement. Bam didn't. Considering I suspect these statements are often written by UK for these kids, I'm wondering if this is targeted at Knox as much as anything. Giving him something to think about - they were pitching him as a 2 believe it or not in the home visit.

It's not true.

Nobody ever said that.

Just the opposite.

It's a basketball game. Why you people let this type of thing stress you out is beyond me. This has zero impact on any intelligent, sane, normal fans' lives. Just IMO.
Jesus Christ dude don't talk **** about me. Anyway this has zero impact on my life, but I'm still a UK fan and sports are one of the things I look forward to and it helps relieve stress to follow sports. My only other teams are UK football and the Cincinnati pro teams so yeah I would like for at least one of my teams to be good to help me escape the stress in my life from time to time. Again sports aren't the only thing I use to relieve stress but still.

Like who? I need names.

I will say the one thing on this whole situation that I do find minorly frustrating is I was always of the thought if you bring in a 5 star stud in mid-season, he can probably help the team. Diallo could have been the missing piece that helps UK win it all this past season. Hell if not for poor officiating and a bad stretch at the wrong time at the end of the UNC game (until our frantic comeback the last 45 seconds) UK still almost wins and probably wins the title if they beat UNC IMO. He could have helped. That said, if he didn't want to play, you can't force a guy to play.

I'm not talking smack, I'm just saying sports shouldn't stress people out. I wasn't meaning to single you out, just UK fans in general. And if your life is stressful by all means you shouldn't be stressing over this in the least bit as you have more important things to worry about as do we all.

And UK basketball is good almost every freaking year since Cal has been here. The Bengals have made the playoffs a ton of late. I guess it is just what you define as good.

It should go without saying, but freaking out and getting angry on here and social media does nothing to help our case in getting him to return. They see that stuff.

No of course not, but it's short-sighted not to expect a little backlash when it doesn't pan out. Happy for the kid, but as I said before, "players first" implies that they ACTUALLY played.

I'm not necessarily happy for the kid.

I was never attached.

But we had no choice other than to take him.

The kid said he wasn't ready. His HS coach said he wasnt ready.

For all we know he is just testing the waters for next year like others have said.

But he is very athletic and talented, so who knows.

If we took him over another star we could have had then we all would have a case to make.

But we didn't. so it's just a bunch of whining.
