Every fan base does the "this is a top 5 backcourt/frontcourt" this time of year
I know. Just pointing out this is the goofiest most bipolar fan base in all of sports on any level. We were going to be lucky to win 5 games 12 hours ago now we're getting everyone we're after and we're the second coming of '96. It's dizzying with these goofballs

I keep trying to tell people. I don’t throw around the word troll. This one is obvious. I really hope the mods are paying attention. Dude is here to cause trouble and nothing else.
Blue Manchu and another new poster with “Mormon” in his name are two in particular that really don’t try too hard to hide the fact they’re 100% trolling all the time. They actually work it like a job. It's harmless, and I guess they’re getting enough kicks out it to continue doing it obsessively until most everyone here figures them out and ignores them, causing the fun to be over. Or maybe not, since I guess they can always get another username and start again.

I really believe that Diallo/Wilkens will be the Cats best starting back court since Hagans/Quickly.
We never really had a Hagans/Quickley backcourt, at least not in terms of those two being our starting 1 and 2 at the same time.

But we did one year have a Hagans/Herro starting backcourt, with Quickley coming off the bench as just a backup. And then the next year we had a Hagans/Maxey backcourt, with Quickley being moved to the starting 3 spot (but not until after Cal finally gave up on Whitney).

Ok then Diallo/Wilkens will be the Cats best starting backcourt since Hagans/Maxie.

But...but...but...midrange twos are LITERALLY THE WORST SHOT IN BASKETBALL.

Right?
In a vacuum..yes. But the reason for that is efficiency. Same thing for post ups. But if you have someone highly efficient in post ups or midrange, it becomes very valuable. Hence, Kevin Durant and Nikola Jokic are very valuable, even though Durant shoots a lot of midrange and Jokic posts up frequently. Both are efficient.

They are both ball dominant guards. I have no idea how they’re supposed to play together.

It'll be fine lol.

Not being said enough

Diallo shot 37.5% on catch-and-shoot 3's. Wilkins shot 37.0% on catch-and-shoot 3's. Maybe one or both will actually BENEFIT from playing off of the ball a little more.

Didn’t you consider Oweh as a 3? I think you should be comparing them to Aberdeen and Chandler.
Great points. Heck, Aberdeen is a 2/3 as well. Those two did the best they could but had a low ceiling as a 1/2. Zoom and Wilkins are a significant upgrade at the 1/2.

May be the case for Furman. But, UW actually had pretty decent talent. Far better than their record indicates. I think Wilkins’ could take a leap in that regard, but, I’m not so optimistic about Zoom. He’s just not a good fit for what Pope wants to do, offensively. Better get some shooting to surround these guys.
I criticized their 3 percentage, but...I think they both shot FT's in the 80's. That's good and always tells me if a player is a shooter. I don't think Pope emphasizes or teaches how to draw fouls, but he should with these guys on the floor.

...Cant shoot. Both of them under 33% from 3. I don't know what the **** this coach's staff is thinking but all you're going to do is lose games when they can't hit nothing. Going three for 18.

So you're starting guards are going to be from Washington and Furman LOL

I'm pretty confident I won't have to envy so many SEC teams with two point guards (or three) better than our one. This is a significant upgrade at the 1/2 for us.

Yeah they are. DA is a good player but not a PG. OO is a good player, but not a great shooter at any level except going to the basket. Talent may be similar but these two fit together far better
Going to the basket he lost the ball or had it took away 8 out of ten times sorry watched it happen to many times also had an issue with hitting lay ups.

I believe many of you all are greatly overreacting to this new backcourt, believe they will be good, probably on par or slightly better than what we had, though people are comparing them to NBA guard tandems and saying we have a top five national backcourt are going to be exceptionally disappointed, IMO.

You guys do know that Diallo was a 38% catch and shoot 3 point shooter this past year along with along with a 53% percentage on unguarded 3 pointers but since he was basically the offense for his team, he did not get a chance to play that much off of the ball. With that percentage along with his high free throw percentage tells me that he can manage a mid to high 30's 3-point shot here at UK.

Wilkins better be 20-25 pounds heavier over the summer. He absolutely has to get stronger to play in the SEC. Two protein shakes a day, creatine and lots of weight lifting. If he doesn’t give significantly bigger I would fire the strength and conditioning coaches.
Our S &C coaches suck. We need to hire the Tennessee guys. All of their players are built like tanks and quick. Our guys look like 8th grade boys not involved in sports.

We still need two more guards. Who will they be? Is the Utah kid taking a visit? Jalen Cox? Any thoughts?
