Banker stating admin wouldn’t allow JUCO’s, Diaco stating admin mandated rugby tackling. Why would Riley and his staff put up with this medling? Eichorst sounds like a control freak that just wanted a puppet.

But some here say we must trust our admin! The level of admin/AD ineptitude we continue to find out about...

If you can' tackle, why are you dropping 8 back in zone coverage and having the zone be 10 yards off the ball? Free yards, when you cannot tackle. Why would I want another year of this if I'm Moos?

If you keep everything in front of you, then you have that many more guys with a shot and maybe someone will get lucky and knock the ball carrier down?

Seriously tho...seen our secondary? They don’t seem ready to go man-man with wr’s and Win many battles...Diaco prefers to get picked apart and hope the offense screws up than get beat over the top for the big play. Idk if that’s the right answer, but that’s his thinking (I think)

Eichorst is gone and I trust Moos to clean this thing up and get us on the right track. But there is no doubt that we have had the wrong people making, the wrong decisions, for the wrong reasons for FAR too long.

I agree and hope Moos cleans up that mess. Bunch of suits mandating football practice tackling is unreal.

They’ll (the admin) have to prove it with tangible results, no more PR, taking someone’s word for it, blind trust/praise, etc.

Can you show me one thing that has improved?

The only human on the planet earth that may understand diaco is leech...

Listen to Sharpe and Benning from either Monday or today...benning seems to have good insight into Diaco. It makes sense with some context

Long story short...Sounds like Diaco and Lang’s don’t get along, Diaco feels like his guys aren’t good enough (or haven’t had enough time to develop) to win the game without help from the offense (which he feels he isn’t getting). So he sees a defense in transition getting hung out to dry, while at the same time trying to cope with his own internal high standards and need to “tell is how it is”. You’re getting honesty that he has to keep pulling back from in order not to throw people under the bus and it manifests it’s self as nonsense at times

It's a two way street. Sometimes the offense needs help from the defense also. The defense couldn't get themselves off the field against Wisconsin and only gave the offense 3 drives(in non garbage time) in the second half.

Whatever the combination, he is killing himself, including his life after NU. Some of the stuff he puts out there is indefensible. He sounds downright goofy.

Everyone forgets that Diaco was regarded as one of the nation’s top coordinators during his time at Notre Dame from 2010 to 2013,

Lest we forget he was the 2012 winner of the Frank Broyles Award, given to the top assistant college football coach in the country and was a semifinalist for the award in 2011.

I really can’t blame him for not liking Langsdorf if that’s the case. How that guy made it thru the Riley purge and/or hasn’t been stripped of his play calling duties I don’t know.

Pretty sure most people posting in this thread know this.

He also had some pretty amazing talent to work with those years too. If it takes incredible talent just to have a competent defense, then he's no better than Pelini's defense.

After listening to Diaco all I can think is.......can we just get some normal freaking coordinators in here? Good grief, tackling isn't rocket science and it shouldn't take years to figure out this system! I don't even know what to think about Eichorst. Damn, this program has been almost ran into the ground! It's time for Moos to start fresh and for crying out loud get it right this time! Damn

Completely agree. I’m not agreeing with him. Just translating and explaining so people aren’t as perplexed. I think he makes valid points, but as a whole, I think his scheme is too risk adverse. He probably has a better excuse for poor defensive play than the offense has, but it still seems silly for the D coordinator to throw stones after Arky st, Oregon, Wisc and Ohio state

Are you still on about the admin that is no longer here??? FFS give it up! SE is gone Pearlman is gone GIVE IT UP!

I’m sure you’re aware that there’s plenty of folks from those regimes still there (of which many are good folks). Why do you instantly say it’s all smooth sailing now? I’m just not ready to suddenly declare anything fixed.

The Rugby tackle is taught all over...until the game starts...then no one does it during the game. You should see the new tackling wheels that even all the high school teams have...once the game starts it is all the same...you just try to get the dude with the ball on the ground.

If you are taught the proper techniques to tackle it is very hard to change to something else...instinct takes over. I know that well for getting kicked out of so many intramural flag football games in college...It was tough for me to not get in breakdon position and lead with my shoulder while grabbing the flag
