I do not think so. DGS's record against playoff teams (Wheaton North, Glenbard West, DGN, Willowbrook) this year is 1-3 by a combined score of 49-110. Their 1 win was against Willowbrook in week 4, 28-13. Those 4 teams also gave them 27 of their 38 playoff points.

Conversely, Palatine was 3-1 against playoff teams this year (St Charles North, Glenbrook South, Conant, Hoffman Estates) by a combined score of 140-74. Their 1 loss was against Glenbook South in week 4, 42-43. Those 4 teams gave them 27 of their 43 playoff points, indicating their league overall was stronger than the WSG.

While scores and numbers don't always tell the story of the game played, the 1 8A playoff team DGS played was GW, which they lost 7-42. Palatine beat 1 8A playoff team, and played the other to a 1 point loss.

I know nothing about Palatine 22 except where their stadium is ... but the locals seemed high them.

Chance? Yes. Is it a high percentage? No. Palatine defense is very fast, and their DE Jaylen Williams is only a soph (a monster in the making). DGS needs to bottle up Ball and Palatine's run game as well as sustain some drives to make this upset happen.

DGS has no chance. The program is a shell of what it was under Belskis. Used it be a contender. Now they make the playoffs because they essentially have 4 automatic wins in their conference. If they can beat WB or HS then they make the playoffs. Then get smoked.

Admittedly this is the 1st year I haven't seen DGS play in quite some while. I did however find myself at their preseason "scrimmage" and noted that physically they looked different than a lot of the previous teams we have been seeing them field. Certainly not up to the eye test that the really good Belskis teams presented as, but noticeably different.

Nobody on this board more Pro-Palatine than me, and even I don't see that. I could see the 42-14 easily.

If Dersnah doesn't break his leg at the end of the 3rd quarter of the GBS game they're 9-0. Had a 42-28 lead and hadn't been stopped on a drive yet that game.. Had 3 three and outs in the 4th quarter- team was a little stunned understandably.

Really talented, super team speed, and leaders like Branch and Ball who play with maximum effort every play and inspire the rest of the team to do the same.

I see a lot of non-Palatine people trying to get some bulletin board material going. This is 8a football, no matter what every game is going to be physical and a battle. I don’t think Palatine is overlooking or thinking this will be a cakewalk against the mustangs.

Palatine should be focused on winning the game and block out all the outside noise but the fact is that DGS got smoked by 20+ points by the 3 good teams on their schedule.
