Dex McCoil

Been following g the Chargers box scores this preseason and it looks like they are taking a long hard look at Dex. He has 11 tackles so far vs the Vikings and he has approached double figures in their previous preseason games. Hope he sticks. He's the type of player where you're not terribly impressed with his 40 time but makes plays whenever given the chance.

He also stripped a ball that led to a fumble recovery today.

He's done that a couple of times this preseason and also recovered one. He has had a fantastic preseason so far.

Great news about Dexter. If he makes a team I'll even forgive him for that muffed on-side kick he made as a freshman against a ranked cougar-kitty team. Had them suckers by the gone-ads until that play very late in the game. Good luck to McCoil. TU Football: 1st,last,always!

I often point to that game as the reason why TU didn't make a bowl that year even with TG calling playing thinking he could replicate Gus' efficiency.

I think Dex became the great player he ended up being because of that play, not necessarily in spite of it. It's easy to let something so negative control who you are afterwards...but he didn't.

NFL network replayed that game last night and Dex was on the field a lot starting in about the 2nd quarter and playing into the 4th. He got matched up against an all-pro TE in Kyle Rudolph a bunch and going against Minnesota's 1st team offense and he held his own. If SD doesn't keep him (and most projections have him making the 53 man), there is a team somewhere he will land with.
