It's not 1995 anymore and none of this legacy media is relevant anymore. The New York Post could run 8 pages of Seton Hall basketball coverage every day and Eyewitness News could run a feature on every single player over two weeks and it wouldn't matter at all. It's all about brands now, team brands and personal brands, and players don't need outdated platforms to be seen and have exposure now.
Devin Williams or any player can easily get more views on social media now than these legacy media groups.
It comes down to money, doesn't it always? Is it possible that even the bluebloods have limits on what they are willing to spend on their reserves? The fact that he is visiting today makes Seton Hall a serious contender and is great news. Coach Sha, please don't nickel and dime. Today is a big day! Not going to lie but beating out Arizona and North Carolina (and other high majors) would almost be as satisfying as getting the player!
My guess, based partly on some estimates I've seen here, is that procuring Williams would likely put us somewhere north or south of $7 million spent for this roster. Who really knows? And, if that is correct, would there be enough left to get us two more "playable" bigs (low bar here) that I think we would still need to fill out the roster?

How many of those 7.5 million households have any care about SHU or any of their players? And even if they all did, how does that benefit a kid coming to SHU these days?
They don’t. That’s the issue. The Post App is still a widely read circulation across the country, and there is something to be said for being on billboards across Times Square, Penn Station, discussed on WFAN and other stuff that then leads to national coverage and attention. But even when we are good we ain’t getting that type of coverage.
Very, very few, but even if they all did, it doesn't matter. Media consumption is so fragmented and individually tailored now that it wouldn't make any difference.
This kid would be a good addition given our current frontcourt situation, but I don't see why UNC or Arizona would need him. 7 points and 5 rebounds a game at FAU. Unless I'm missing something it doesn't seem like he's anything special.

30+ a game to set up a big payday next year seems pretty attractive compared to being a backup or getting minimal time at one of these other schools.

I look at shu teams in comparison to shu teams. For me, any yr we get a bid was a good yr and a 20 win season doesnt piss me off either.
It was basically his first year playing in college. He's a completely different player but he averaged the same line as Hines although that isn't what teams look They scout the player's ability, strengths, skills, weaknesses and evaluate his analytics and efficiency numbers on offense and defense and decide what kind of value he would have in their specific system and with the players he'd be playing with.
What makes him attractive to the P4 teams is his defense. He's an elite shot-blocker at 2.6 per game /10.7% block rate which puts him in the 98th percentile. He also rates as a good overall team defender and he does not commit many Fouls. Has a poor Steal rate and just an average defensive rebounder as most shot blockers tend to be lower.
On offense Williams brings more potential than production at this point. He's a 6'10" athletic player who has 3-point range (15 for 45 33%) who is good in the pick and roll as he's a vertical threat moving towards the basket. He's a factor in the pick and pop but needs to be more consistent with his shooting. Has decent hands, is quick off his feet and long. He's thin and not very strong to be an effective post player yet but his finishing around the rim is good at 66% because of his agility and length. He's a good offensive rebounder, he can handle the ball a bit and rates as a decent passer and midrange jump shooter. Needs to cut down his TOs. So he has some translatable skills and potential for much more.
At the Blue bloods he's a useful rotational bench player, valued for his defensive ability, his versatility to play as a 4 or a 5 and his potential. For us he's a starter. To play the 5 he needs to either play alongside a physical 4 or as a tandem with a stronger 5 who can play some quality minutes against bruising, physical Centers At Florida Atlantic he usually started the game as the 4 and was used as the 5 in the 2nd half.
Arizona has an All-Big 12 Center returning and are awaiting word on if their star Forward Koa Pete will return or stay in the Draft. If he doesn't return, Williams potentially becomes more than just a luxury bench player for them.
Same type of player as Williams, would have to think they pivoted to him because they are out on Williams but one never knows.
