No Husker fan blasted Pelini for winning “just” 9 a year. He got blasted for barely beating teams like McNeese state and getting his **** pushed in by teams like Wisconsin.

He got blasted for acting like a lunatic and losing his mind so easily that he couldn’t focus on what other teams were doing to him and couldn’t make adjustments.

He got blasted for constantly acting like an idiot and embarrassing himself and Nebraska.

Osborne barely beat teams as well.

Revisionist history.

Guaranteed had he won in 2009 and 2010 none of that matters to Nebraska fans

Nope.

NU did not get a good look nationally when he was vein-popping and spraying spittle over players, assistants and officials. The natties would have somewhat mitigated that crap for NU fans but ya, it would have mattered for most NU fans.

Like so many coaches I see every Saturday.

We look like dumbasses now and are the laughing stock of college football.

Get over your fake persona.

Which group of 5 school did Osborne barely beat?

I don’t think you know what you’re talking about.

92 Iowa State was a worse program (then) than many group of 5 programs are today. And they beat a team a year away from losing a controversial NC game to FSU a year later.

A way outmanned Colorado team beat Neb in the mid to late 80s once. There were examples.

Actually, no, most coaches are not at the level of Pelini in terms of gooberism.

I think you're projecting but I'm not judging.

At least I have a persona.

All true, but now figure in how many such games TO lost as opposed to BP.

Pretty sure no QB ever flipped off TO.

And.......Wisky's Bell just scored another touchdown.

Not disagreeing that TO was a much better coach than Pelini.

Wyoming and Central Florida for example.

Kids don't always get up for lesser opponents.
These are good examples, for sure. I guess you do know what you’re talking about. :)

Apologies for my snide comment.

That said, it was a rare occurrence for Osborne over the course of 25 years. Pelini had twice as many in 7 seasons as Osborne did in 25, I’m guessing…

My reply was to the poster that made the “only 9 wins” statement. My comment to HIM, was also correct.
You’re trying to defend Blo Pelini. There were plenty of reasons people wanted him canned, not numbers of W-L’s, but how poorly his teams played, among his many warts.
Also, food for thought. Michigan had Rich Rod and Brady Hoke as coaches the first few years we were in the BIG. PSU was on suspension for raping babies. OSU was down.
Pelini teams consistently made lesser teams look like juggernauts (WY QB looked like a Heisman contender against us, SDSU, and on and on.
Thank God for Ameer and Rex. You totally disrespect them and how much they had to fight for yards if you think our OL was good.
Yes. Our team has been garbage under Scott. If you only look at numbers, then sure, it looks like Bo did a good job. There is much more to football than the W-L column.

I understand what you’re saying. I didn’t “love” Bo either. However…given what Nebraska has done and looked like under SF, i would have welcomed a peg legged, pirate patched Pelini on Nebraska’s sideline last year around the mid-October mark.

SIAP. Per Husker twitter account, D2 has reported to camp.
18 days to find a role for week one or add a few weeks to learn enough to push for a spot ahead of anyone else with more time in the system.

Coach Dawson and Chinander need that DL room to push each other the way it seems the DBs are because of competition.

2 examples out of 25 years. You could maybe find 2 not, but to use the "Osborne lost to bad teams too" is crazy silly when comparing to Pelini.
Not disagreeing but he wasn’t without a couple/few chinks. But for those that compare Frost to Pelini and I’ve even some say that they prefer the 3-9 season of last year to Bo’s 9 win seasons. Huh? That’s an even more ridiculous assertion IMO. One won at least 9 games EVERY year he coached Nebraska. Frost has win little more than 9 games in 4 years. The object of the game is winning.

Agree. No way I can accept 3-9 (especially in year 4 with no good prior seasons) over 9-4 (no matter how big a jerk Pelini was).
