yeah, sure we can compare it to that.
I mean, I am with you. Going 500 in year 5 will hopefully get you fired at Nebraska. Now, it beats .341 but recall us spoiled fans blasting Pelini for winning “just” 9 a year? And now we have idiots on the board saying they thought it would be a 7 year rebuild. Yeah, sure.

I have seen 4 years of ineptitude so I guess one more can’t hurt. The only question is, if we win 7 does Frost get retained? That would be a serious downer. But, I am comfortable thinking we win 5, or possibly 4 games.

Jesus. We can’t even have a thread on a new commit without the usual suspends spewing their some old garbage.

i think .500 would be pretty disappointing
It would be a three and possibly 4 win improvement (if we win the bowl game) over last year. It would also mark our first bowl game of the Frost era. Going, .500 wouldn't be a disappointment unless you aren't grounded in reality.

Yes even though he is not a blue chip recruit he has proven on the field that he is a durable and serviceable defensive lineman. I do not see him starting for us, but we need depth and we need guys like him to be able to step up and give Ty and Polar Bear a breather from time to time. We have failed miserably over the past four years to recruit good defensive lineman. And that has to change. But at least we now have an extra body to toss into the lineup when our starters get tired.

Whether or not he starts could depend upon how they decide to work the 4-3. I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to the scheme taxonomy and lingo, but I think I read that they would play him as a 3-tech. Which would imply that they will line the other position as a nose. I would think in this arrangement, Nash would back up Ty and Newsom/Feist would back up Drew. The staff seems to be looking for another heavier bodied guy to add to the mix.

I like how he is good at getting his arms extended and off blocks. Charlie Mcbride always talks about getting separation. You can do that if you get your arms extended. Shows good body lean and active hands.

I think he's gonna be a more solid of a pickup than many here think. Potentially starting if it's him or Nash.

Without looking at talent vs. talent, Rogers has/had a long history of injuries. In looking at the number of snaps Drew played over 900 snaps and didn't miss a game in 2 seasons.

He may be more durable, but now being in a more physical league it could change. It's worse having a potential starter/top backup being unavailable
to play due to chronic injuries. Rogers fits that bill. Drew doesn't.
Going by his track record I would classify drew as a hard worker

I think he shows more promise that Rogers tbh. How better health track record is more desirable as well

I'm pretty sure we can pencil him in as a starter unless we land another dt
That's what I'm hearing if he shows in fall camp what they think he will. We HAD to get another DT regardless because we'll rotate them a lot this year. Ideally Nash won't have to play more than 30 to 35 snaps.

Defensive line just went from a point of worry to a position of strength.

The late arrival does hurt, he’ll still have to go through the typical non-pad protocol days, etc.

But hopefully being an experienced guy will help him incorporate into the scheme and calls quickly. Instant impact from him would be a huge bonus.

We will need him by September 17th and on so I think we will be okay with the 3 we have for Dublin. He has a lot of experience and interior DL needs way less time to get ready.

Exactly. You cannot keep your job if 7 wins is your best out of 5 seasons. 7 wins got Solich canned and that was his worst. 8 wins or bust!

No Husker fan blasted Pelini for winning “just” 9 a year. He got blasted for barely beating teams like McNeese state and getting his **** pushed in by teams like Wisconsin.

He got blasted for acting like a lunatic and losing his mind so easily that he couldn’t focus on what other teams were doing to him and couldn’t make adjustments.

He got blasted for constantly acting like an idiot and embarrassing himself and Nebraska.

It’s only progress because SF lowered his own bar…significantly. Would you not agree? NOBODY (when Frost was hired) thought we’d be going into year 5 dreaming of a .500 season.
