The Riley regime was one of unaccountably that was soft and undisciplined, where going to class and lifting weights was often optional. In the three years he was here I can't recall hearing about anyone getting suspended for breaking team rules. (Maybe it happened, but I don't recall it) How does that happen in three years with 150 guys? Gary Anderson went 2-10 after inheriting a Mike Riley team, after having success everywhere else he coached. Coincidence?

The point is fellas, Coach Frost didn't suddenly forget how to coach football. And this isn't going to be an easy or quick fix. I don't think it's that players don't want to buy in, but after three years of being coddled some just don'tknow what effort really means, and may never. Young players need to learn from upperclassmen and many of our upperclassmen are already set in their ways. So how does this get fixed? I have no idea but there is a guy getting paid 5 million to figure it out. So settle in fellas, this is going to take awhile but we'll get there. It just may take a few years.

Gary Andersen is 36-54 at schools not named Wisconsin. He had one good year at Utah St. research is your friend.

Yeah, I forgot about that powerhouse Utah State was that he inherited.

-DC at Utah that went undefeated and beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl.
-Took Utah State from 3-9 to 11-2
-Won the Big Ten West in his 1st year

And take away the one 11 win season at Utah St and he is 25-52.

He took over a Wisconsin team that had just won the Big Ten title.

He maintained Wisconsin.

I would say we are "maintaining" a shitshow right now. Same shitshow from last year.

These guys take the field, and they fold against big time competition. They drop passes that lead to losses, they make stupid penalties, and they don't know how to block.

It's on everybody, coaches included, but I would like to see a day when guys with 3 or more years under one coaching staff in this program start to play solid, hard-nosed smart football against all opponents.

That's all I ask. GBR

There really is a huge mental part to this. I don’t think it’s that Riley gave them so much I’ve cream they turned into wussies, that non longer want to play football. I think it’s a matter of just losing so many games. We have lost so much lately, it’s like we have come to expect it. We really needed to finish off Colorado. It’s like throughout most of that game we had a new energy, new life and things really were different. Then, we made the huge mistakes we do too often and now it’s like, “we suck again”, “here we go again.” Frost needs to put them in a position to succeed and they need to have some success on the field, only way out of this, for this group.

I think Nebraska has given every predecessor the same timeframe. Frost has a 7-year contract, so he is going to be given even more time, but at year 3 we better be competitive and playing good fundamental football.

Don't put words in my mouth and understand my logic here. The OL will be redshirt fr and true soph in 3 years. I think an even better example will be year 4 under a Frost regime.

Which means we throw this year out the window. Going to take our lumps.

If any of the legacy players here have any heart or balls left they will step-up and play better, because honestly, I don't give a **** about this year anymore. It's beyond me. Give me The Purge.

And by Legacy I mean those guys that don't fill gaps, don't block and play dumb/out of position lifeless football. Get lost.

So what is more important implementing your systems and developing your culture or winning games? It’s a chicken and egg thing. You apparently have players that are unable to run the systems how you want them to. Some players aren’t buying in. But they need a win in order to get over the hump. But how do they get a win when they can’t execute the plays. And around we go.

Uhm. I don’t know why you are quoting me and telling me not to put words in your mouth. All I said to you was “noted”.

That is the problem. Execute the plays. If you can't, next man up. And your scholarship should be pulled if you can't do it. Pretty simple to me.

Yea, well, when you say "noted" I hear someone coming back around in 3 years with an agenda. So there is my agenda. "Noted."

Anyone who trys to put this squarely on the coaches after a few weeks are crazy. It is all on the players, period. Scott has been up front since he's taken the job. In some ways I feel sorry for the kids. Piss poor leadership has lead to this. Pelini was a horrible influence on the kids his last year. He pointed the finger, not the thumb. Riley ran a snowflake program with absolutely no accountability for 3 damn years! This is gonna take some work. We'll get there. Just have to gut through it a couple years. What Frost & Co did at UCF was no fluke.

So if these coaches have evaluated which players are better than others and you think playing a worse player is going to make your team better and win you games?

Here we go with the "putting words in my mouth" Tuco. In-season, you "take your lumps." What does that mean? It depends. There are spots where young guys can play, some spots not so much.

There is a talent problem in Lincoln Tuco. These guys had another year to develop, they supposedly worked hard, and they still suck. Collectively. I don't have to single anybody out, it's the truth.

When our RB gets run-down for no gain with an angle on a middle LB in space? OL gets obliterated. WR can't get separation, or get any yards in the screen game. What game are you watching? And to top it off, they quit after the first sign of adversity (the tipped/busted pass that would have gone for 6).

Now, you will sit here for the rest of the year contemplating your naval and spouting words of wisdom, but the premise remains the same. Maybe they get a little better, who knows? I hope so.

I would say, re-load and give Frost time to get his guys, year 3 and 4, we should see that product on the field.

That's it. I won't get into a battle of semantics with you, I would rather argue with my wife about something that do that.

Honestly there is enough blame to go around. But you are right hammering on a new staff or kids that have gone through three head coaches isn’t productive, we need to support the team through the transition and hope SF is the guy to turn it around. We need he to be, bad.
