A lot of Rogers hate on the board, and the system is dramatically different, but Rogers has been QB for 16 games in his career and now holds the following in our record book:
- 9th most passing yards in a career
- 8th most passing TD's in a career
- 2nd most completions in a career
- 5th most passing TD's in a season (this year)
- 2nd most completions in a season (this year)
- 4th most passing yards in a season (this year)
- 7 of the top 10 highest # of completion games

Try and be happy we are experiencing something we've never seen before here and we had a 45-6 victory today.

Can you now catalogue the rushing numbers we've seen over that time?

When you throw the ball 60 times per game, you're gonna put up numbers. It doesn't mean it's effective or efficient.

Rogers could be a below average QB and would obliterate every passing record if he starts for 3 years. It’s a system thing. Now does not mean Rogers is bad, he’s not.

Glad he has a bunch of the passing td ones in his favor that's the important stat there. The rest aren't that impressive considering how much we throw almost every down. Of course the completions is gonna be high. Nobody in our history has thrown it 80 percent of the time.

Hope he ends up number 1 in the touchdowns and overall touchdowns in a season.

Get outta here with that fancy logic and reason Drebin! The truth is we are a dominating #83 scoring Offense in the country baby! True Ball State is ahead of us now and so are 81 other College teams...but we are catching up quick, Ball State better watch their ***.***

Besides being #83 in scoring points isn't worth any mention, because scoring points doesn't matter in Football...all that matters is sweet sexy misleading statistics, that's how you win in Fantasy Football!***

These comments I will agree with. This offense runs totally thru the QB. If he doesn't lead the FBS in every statistical passing category we are probly losing. He should always lead the league in passing. And yes we need to improve on our red zone efficiency. He should break 400 yards every game

No Drebin. If you are not proclaiming that Will Rogers is on his way to becoming the greatest QB in Mississippi State history it's because you are a hater. And don't dare point out that in all these stats, nobody looks at attempts, efficiency, or QB rating.

Rogers was 67th in NCAA passer rating at 138 before tonight and only rolled out a 142 tonight. For reference, 138 is between 2010 Chris Relf and 2019 Tommy Stevens in the Mississippi State record book.

This is all I'm saying. We can beat our chest about it but unless we are number 1 in passing tds then the rest is really irrelevant. We need to be number 1 in scoring offense. That's what we hired leach to do. Comparing school passing stats is not that impressive to me just because we have never attempted this many passes.

I appreciate the positive post, but actually agree that getting overly excited about passing records in this offense is dangerous. We should be setting school passing records and leading the league in most passing categories. I don't have a quarrel with those who point that out.

But at the same time, honest assessments are important. Our offensive numbers overall haven't been great, but we have also played one of the toughest schedules in the country prior to Vandy (#4 per Sagarin). We got a weak sister today and put up impressive #'s. That's worth some positive vibes.

Its not gonna happen overnight. But statistically we have to be huge in passing since we barely run. Will is given the opportunity to lead in passing stats. His 74% completion rate is all him tho. But if you throw it 70 times every game you better put up some yards

If you are attempting to say Relf and Rogers passing abilities are equal you are ignorant. Relf turned out to be pretty good but he was not much of a passer.

Rogers’s stats should have an asterisk by them given our rushing offense is virtually nonexistent by design.

The offense tests these defenses and constantly pushes the chains. I love it.
