2 more wins and we sweat on Selection Sunday but we make it in, 3 more wins and we don't even have to sweat.

Everyone on this board watches more Rutgers basketball than Jay Bilas. If you think RU is a sweet 16 team right now then you have a potato brain.

Not related to what Bilas thinks but.....

We've had too many "despite the loss" games of late.

We've had an amazing season thus far, it's great that we claw our way back into these games against good teams on the road, but we have to pull some of these games out of the fire. We've been doing it at home, need to be able to do it away from the RAC. Especially if we hope to prove Bilas correct.

I am very concerned with this team.

The past 2 games we were down more than 15 points in the 2nd half. We won 1 game and lost the other as we made it close down the stretch.

It seems the analysis is out now for how to beat Rutgers. The teams that kick out for 3s seem to do well vs. us. Also, get Myles into foul trouble.

The upcoming MD, Mich, and IL games will be very telling.

If this board were a life force - it would need a therapist for the multiple neuroses that ail it.

I guess you have lost all confidence in our team and you are also downplaying how strong the Big 10 is this year. Tell us Mr. Potato head, which team in the country do you think would blow us out on a neutral court in the first 2 games of the tourney ? Then tell me if we have played a team similar to that team in the Big 10. Your definitive statement is just as silly as what you claim Bilas has said. Do you think Bilas is the only one or are all the current bracketologists that have us as a 6, 7, or 8 seed also out of their minds and have potato brains? Looking forward to your reply Mr. Potato.

As for a blow out in the tourney...
if we are a 7, 8, or 9 seed we would be playing a top 1 or 2 seed. Baylor, Gonzaga, Kansas, Duke, or Louisville can run up the score against us. They have roster talent above ours. MD and SHU at a current 3 seed probably would not blow us out based on our head to head games with them.

Our recent slow starts have killed us of late. Mostly on the defensive side. We need to play lock down defense from the start like we did a few weeks ago. . I am hoping this Saturday we see a different defensive start than Northwestern and Ohio St in the first half

We wouldn’t play a 1 seed to get to the Sweet Sixteen if we are a 6 or 7 seed.

How can we be considered a favorite to win any tournament games since all our wins are at the RAC ? Can't see us upsetting a few teams in a row to advance. Maybe we're Cinderella.

lose by 50 or lose by 1, it doesn’t matter. Welcome to March.

I’ll answer your question by asking a question. What team do you think we can beat on a Neutral court? I haven’t seen that happen yet.

We can beat any team that is the point. We never get blown out , we never give up, and some players have to get through with this mental block as I think it is . If we get one against Wisconsin, Penn State, or Purdue , then the wall gets knocked down and then all the dominos will fall. Plus we will have a decent crowd at the first 2 games , so that RAC feel will help , as MSG almost brought us back. We have already played in front of the loudest most attended road games in the country. Some neutral site games will not intimidate us.
By the way , you cannot be serious about the line , lose by 50 or 1,, it doesn’t matter. What are you smoking? Playing and leading or tied on the road against the 9th ranked, the 18th ranked, and 20th ranked teams , give you confidence that you can play with anyone in the country, especially since our conference has the best teams in the country.

In March, it doesn’t matter. Lose and you go home, period.

The three things RU needs to be worried about in the NCAAs if we make it:
  1. Playing an efficient 3PT shooting team. We will get exposed. Our opposing 3PT% is inflated due to teams being uncomfortable at the RAC (they’ve gotten some really good open looks)
  2. Getting refs that won’t allow us to play a bruiser style of defense (this is something the entire conference should be concerned about except for a few teams)
  3. Neutral site. Doesn’t matter what the score is. The reality is that we have struggled to win away from home. The team energy and urgency lacks until they look at the clock and say oh crap we only have 8 minutes left. That’s a problem.
Disagree all you’d like, but this year isn’t going to be our year based off what I’ve seen. I do like how things are trending for next season though.

With Iowa's loss today, a win over Illinois on Saturday puts us back in the top 4, back on track for a double-bye. What a rollercoaster ride this season is and will continue to be!

So how do explain halftime leads at Illinois, Iowa, and Maryland ?

I view Iowa as the outlier there. That was an offensive shootout and apparently that’s just something we do every time we play Iowa.

Maryland and Illinois to me both play a similar style to us in terms of identity. Both teams playing their game is exactly how we want to play.

Both those games they closed out because they are the better teams.

I think it will be very very interesting to see how we play vs Illinois and Maryland at home.
