The announcer son is a guard and a nose guard. He played both ways.
As a 10th year football official who's playoff games had ended, I went to this game for a few reasons. I knew it was going to be the best game of that weekend's Quarters and I knew the officiating crew and wanted to watch them work. I also had heard the stories and had yet to have the 'pleasure' of being witness to the 'Darlington Experience' between a coach and guy in stripes...
Stood many people deep near the large tree just outside the NE corner of the track. Watched the police create an escort for the crew at halftime and the end of the game just so they could get through the crowd.
So here's the odd fact to add to this game: The officiating crew, led by a veteran with college and CFL experience, was the SAME crew that worked the Joliet Catholic @ Riverside Brookfield Brasic vs Zwierzynski Playoff Classic.

p.s.: the next year I had the opportunity to R a game for Coach Darlington at Plainfield North... we had a good game and he was a true gentleman. He came to us while walking the hand shake line to compliment and wished us well

That was a VERY good crew that worked those games.
