I was noticing the video the Cats were making for the TV crew for Sat game...Willis is not in the picture. My son pointed out to me after the netcutting ceremony last Saturday in the pic of the team with the nets and hats that Willis wasnt in it either?? In noticed a pic of the bench the other days during one of the tournament games all the players are up and cheering on the bench after a play; that is everyone except Willis who is sitting there expresssionless....Is there something going on?

I've noticed Derek doesn't seem like the type to go crazy after a big shot/win. That just isn't his personality.

Derek was in the vid for Sat.

He's in the left behind Dom :

Willis is considering giving up basketball . He is burned out and just going through the motions at this point . His heart just isn't in it .

You seem to be twisting his words. You probably think this because of his quotes a few months ago about falling away from the game.

He simply lost some motivation mid-way because he was suck on the bench, which is somewhat understandable. He followed up that by saying he's doing all he can to get back in the game, by staying longer in the gym and just being more involved.

I hope he gets a chance next season to show if he can perform at this level or not.

They should have put Brian Long in the back. He takes away from the bad assness in that picture

He doesn't appear to be a happy camper, but that just may be his demeanor. If he and/or Hawkins leave, I'd love to see them join my Colonels.

Someone had to snap the photo. Now you know who it was.

I wouldn't fault him if he went somewhere that he would get playing time.
Of course not. He has to do what he feels is best for him. Personally, I hope he does find a better situation if that's what he wants.

He isn't in the picture because he isn't on the team. He transferred last season after these same threads were all over the board.

Well he said he would not consider a transfer because he loves the University of Kentucky but he has lost his motivation for basketball . Wasn't trying to twist his words . That was my interpretation .

He never fails to generate some discussion does he? I have no idea, but it's possible he's come to grips with where his talent level is in the big picture. Just as many of us probably had to when our high school days were over. There seem several possible outcomes. He stays at UK, works hard to develop into the best player he can be, and gets a degree from UK. Likely plays more, but never a lot. Cal is going to continue bringing in 5 star players. He gives it up all together to focus on school, and what's beyond for him. Or he transfers to where he would play more. Any of those 3, or any other is just speculation on our parts though. Right now I want UK to win tomorrow. That's my focus. It's all going to be over Monday night one way or the other, and afterwards there will be plenty of time to speculate on who's going to do what.

I was just thinking about that this morning. It not much more than 72 hours this wonderful season will be over. I hope all of you have enjoyed it as much as I have. Living so far away it's great to have a place where I can come and "talk" about this thing we all love so much, UK basketball.

Thread = More Meaningless Clutter

If Derek Willis stays he will get his playing time in the spotlight the next two seasons, remember a guy named Harrelson?

His dad called in to Matt Jones KSR show 2 or 3 Fridays ago, I remember, and there certainly didn't seem to be any problems going by anything that he said. He said that everyone on the team genuinely, truly loves one another like brothers, they all get along, no one is selfish in the least bit, etc. And I think he also had some "not so great" things that he mentioned about Jim Calhoun and some of his comments around that time, as well. (I'm pretty sure this was 3 weeks ago...the day we played Florida in the SEC Tourney).

As for what Willis has going on inside of his head? I have no idea. Just throwing the above out there...

I kinda figured people would flame me for this post..I love Derek Willis as a player and I would be as disappointed as anyone if he left. My 12 yr old son noticed it the other day about him not being in the celebration picture. Its hard to believe someone there wouldnt have taken the pic and included him. The video I saw being made was posted on facebook and he definitely wasnt in the picture..Not trying to start any clutter or anything else, just pointing out it was odd that he wasnt in either?? I saw on KSR a team pic of the same and two other people pointed out that he was curiously missing also..just saying..

Hate to rain on the parade but the news showed him on the ladder cutting part of the net away. Only thing going on is folks want to see him leave for some reason by posting things like this that are not true.

If you interpreted it thats your opinion but he never said he lost motivation he said he needed to work harder at getting more playing time. Its online you can find the whole recap about him there.

This was mentioned in an interview but Derek did go on to say he was refocused and working on his game. So your statement is actually false.

Well I hope that is the case . I think next year he will have the opportunity if he wants it .
