Seems like there are two extremes. One would be to act like it's a huge deal. The other would be to assume the arresting officer is "some arrogant cop." Entitlement?
Hell no. Entitlement? I said he gets noticed easier! Most would be told to leave the area or told someone in the group to get a drunk person out of area and not to drive. But Willis stands out. I'm saying in this case, just the opposite of entitlement.

Can someone explain it. Does this mean he was just drunk?? Or to get arrested to you have to belligerent? Or disturbing the peace?

I plead ignorance. He's 21 correct?

Lexington police used to simply camp outside bars and pull in kids who'd had a drink. This was in the 90s. No rowdiness. No driving. Just youth. The public intoxication law is extremely vague and broad and courts give police amazing latitude.

Posters bending over backwards making excuses for a player they favor , it would be a completely different reaction if say a newcomer or non native had this happen . I hope the new guys don't look to Willis for leadership , hopefully Briscoe can set the example .
My thoughts exactly. Just imagine if this was one of the twins. The outrage and sanctimonious huffing and puffing would be off the charts. Guarantee there would even be a post or four calling for a dismissal from the team.

Be careful what offense you call this. He was charged with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place, not Public Intoxication. Public Intoxication means you are the influence of a substance, other than alcohol in public. PI is a Class B Misdemeanor while an AI is simply a violation punishable by a fine for the first offense. It is not in and of itself against the law to be under the influence of alcohol in public in Kentucky. To be charged you have to be manifestly under the influence to the point you are a danger to yourself or other persons or property, or unreasonably annoy others around you. We will see what happens, but remember, it is AI not PI.

Just imagine if it was Briscoe , good lord it would be a message board crucifixion . The comments would be wishing he would have stayed in the draft to blaming a liquor problem on his shooting . This is favoritism at its zenith .

No favoritism here. But if he was drunk on Crown Royal, his scholarship should be pulled and all stats removed from UK database.

I missed his mugshot .
So if 2 people do the same thing and one gets caught, one doesn't...ones a let down, ones a leader? Gotcha.

Btw, I'm not a Willis pumper. Would feel the same as if this was any other player on the team. Stupid move, but not the end of the world.

Stupid mistake, but one made by many! He'll get his punishment and then we will all move forward!

Good job on slandering a player that did nothing just to cover for one who did , did you get that ?

Arnies. Brothers. 2 bars on the pier. I think one is Hooters. I like the other one that has pool tables and punching bag. Few places for live music set in old big homes.

He needs to grow up?

He's a 20-year old drinking in public doing the same thing the rest of his age group is doing. His only fault was that he should have been smarter and not gotten caught.. who cares.

jay-reimenschneider,

No! You took my statement out context you UL troll. If you have ever been in a public place that serves alcohol (which most Shively UL fans have not), you would know 95% of the time police will approach and state leave premises and get home safe while releasing them to someone in a group that is not impaired and can get the person home safely.

At no point did I say the arrest wasn't justified and I stated Willis will learn from it.

Btw. I've been around some UL players in town while they were far more impaired than Willis. They just didn't get spotted.

Truth! But getting caught isn't a bad thing and could squash any future incidents for him by learning a lesson.

This is obviously a huge mistake by Willis and as a senior leader, it's not a good look. However, I'm sure Cal knows how to handle this and hopefully, Willis learns a lesson from it.

That mugshot is epic, though. Downright legendary. I'm sure we will see a Fathead of it at quite a few road games next season.

Are you crazy? It was in Louisville and it was the Louisville police.

They had a coed die from an overdose in a players room and it didn't get out for months, this has a $50 bond and it's all over the news.

I wonder how many people ISIS killed in the world today, the 50 we had was probably a small part of it.

I'd say it's two different players in two different situations but neither need to get into trouble. It never looks good from a perception standpoint and it's best in the spotlight to (especially in college) to play quietly.

Having said that, it is what it is. Our players generally do well off the court.
