No big deal.....kids in college drink. Not like it was a felony or anything.
Bad decision on his part, but no big deal. All that means is he could have been drinking, which I'm pretty sure he is legally allowed to do, and was put in public with his girlfriend. Could have been in a car on the way home and made a stop...who knows.

The same kind that was picked on in school and has a bone to pick with each and every person (especially people that are well known)
Dude I went to school with pulled me over for no reason (he's like 5'2 and always was second fiddle to me in every single sport we played) and gets me out of my car and asking what my name is (keep in mind the dude used to be my best friend and stayed the night with me a lot when we were kids) ... found nothing and said have a good night. Wtf man? Really?

Very stupid on his part going into his senior season where he should be a leader and is in competition for PT. I doubt Cal will take this as lightly as some in this thread. Since the car death of, I think Byrd was the driver, UK has had a pretty strict policy on this stuff. Disappointed in Derek considering his role on the team. And, yes, I know college kids drink, I was one of them. But , Derek is in a little different situation than your average college kid. Not the end of the world but not good either. Go ahead, pile on.
There's nothing wrong with what you said. I don't know the details and it's not the end of the world, but he needs to keep out of trouble in his situation.
Wait a minute. He had too much to drink and got unlucky with some arrogant cop likely spotting him and arrested him more fun rather than being overtly drunk. It doesn't mean he still can't be a leader. Geez people. Lighten up. The majority on here have been drunk at some point and just got lucky not being spotted. Derek will learn from this.

True but most college students don't get arrested for a PI. Not a major deal but it's never a light thing to get arrested.
He's not MOST college kids. He's a 3-point bomber at UK.
Unlike most geeks in college that get drunk and stumble around at a bar and go unnoticed, Derek is a 6'9 Indian in da house whose playing for UK. You get noticed!

Seems like there are two extremes. One would be to act like it's a huge deal. The other would be to assume the arresting officer is "some arrogant cop." Entitlement?
HA Not hardly, he may not even make the bench if he can't do something more significant than that... Kind of like being able to spell at uncheat...that gets a demotion not a promotion
"Suspended indefinitely." For real though, we'll never hear the end of this now. Hopefully the staff keeps an eye on him and he keeps his head on straight after this.
