…..I’m a huge horse racing fan. I’ve been following the sport since going to to Turfway Park for the first time in 1982 when I was 16.

This years Oaks, and Derby is the most wide open in the same year as I can ever remember. Just wondering if any of you are have any thoughts on these two races.

I’m going with Commandment and So Happy. Still trying to figure out the other two for my superfecta.

I’m not a fan of Renegade. Small horse and drew the dreaded 1 post. Which means he’s likely winning tomorrow haha.

I was lukewarm on Renegade before he drew the 1 post. Considering, he hasn’t broken sharply in any of his starts to date, I’m going to exclude him. I like both Commandment and So Happy. I’ll use them in a lot of my wagers. I really like Further Ado. I also like Emerging Market and Puma.

Tough race to call, but I have a feeling that Further Ado will be a major player.

I feel bad for Right to Party.

I bet he doesn't sleep til' Brooklyn.

What does "front lameness" mean, anyway? Bad wheel ?

I like Commandment. The 1 post isn't the death penalty like it was in the past since they got the new starting gate but I still don't think much of Renegade.

We are there now.

I agree on the openness this year. I usually bet $100 to win on one horse. In addition to other bets.

There’s not one I’m betting that on this year.

I do think Renegade is the best horse. But the 1 hole is tough.

Baffert has 2 horses. I never not bet Baffert.

There’s a Curlin son and that’s a weakness for me. I just have to bet them.

I like So Happy. I’ll probably put the most on him.

We love Churchill and all the trappings. 🐎👍🥰

The Oaks under the lights for the first time.

The favorites will probably be Renegade and Further Ado. I don't like Further Ado because Irad Ortiz opted off for Renegade and I don't like him because of the #1 post and recent heel problems. Further Ado looks like the best horse on paper but Irad Ortiz, Jr. doens't get off very many winners.

I like a couple longshots:

#14 Potente is 20/1 morning line and only has 3 races with no Grade 1 wins yet but he's gotten better each race and is a $2.4mil yearling trained by Baffert and ridden by the top California jockey Hernandez.

#15 Emerging Market, a 15/1 morning line horse, only has 2 races but won both and a repeat of the last race would put him near the lead, ridden by the great Flavian Pratt.

I'd say both are too lightly raced to be a likely winner but I won't leave either out of my trifectas.

Trifecta box: Further Ado, Commandment, Renegade.

Chief Wallabee to win on separate bet

The more I look at Chief Wallabee, the more I like him. I think Further Ado wins, but I’m going to bet on CW to win also.

It’s a nice highlight for Kentucky. The race is always exciting. That said, lived most of my life in Kentucky and I don’t care.

Bet $5 across on Potente. And $5 to win on So Happy. I'm not a horse junkie and this race is usually a crap shoot anyway.

I've had a terrible Derby day so far but I loaded up on Potente and Emerging Market on top of some trifectas and exactas. I feel good about my two horses. They each have one of the top 4 American trainers and one of the top 4 American jockeys; no other horse in the race can say that.

Oaks/Derby double for Jose Ortiz; he's been crazy hot; can't keep him out of the exacta no matter what he rides.

What a finish!! Jockey brothers finish 1st and 2nd.
They do that a lot; maybe the top 2 jockeys in the country. The only legit reason to have bet the winner was the jockey.

One interesting thing I noticed: the 3rd place horse was only 22/1 but it seems like he should have been 99/1. He was a $12k yearling purchase who was still a maiden in 6 races with only one second in a cheap maiden race and just won a half million dollars with a 3rd place finish.
