We also have Walker, plus a 4 star recruit. We will be alright. Then a couple of underrated recruits.

No, we need another back (Marks hopefully). Anything we get from Walker above ST is a bonus. Maybe he really surprises but right now he looks like 3rd string

Witherspoon, Marks (the aforementioned 4 star), Walker, then Dillon Johnson. What am I missing here?

You are missing experience, along with any reason to think these guys can play at an SEC level. I'm not saying they won't, just that we have no reason to judge their ability right now.

I have heard from some very reliable sources that we have 25 players that have decided to leave the team after this season. Its gonna set the program back 50 years

Add on to this - unfortunately I just glanced at our 2020 schedule.

New Mexico - W
at NC State - Tossup, they aren't good, but it's hard to call for a win and Doeren's a good coach
Arkansas - Tossup, they could be improved with a lot of young players
Tulane - W, but if we've lost to NC State and Arkansas, could Willie Fritz Croom Moorhead??
Texas A&M - L, they should peak next year
at Alabama - L
at LSU - L
Auburn - L dear God at this stretch
Missouri - Tossup, who knows what they will have
at Kentucky - Tossup, who know who their coach is
Alabama A&M - W
at Ole Miss - Tossup, but ripe for their new coach to beat us down

5-7 is probably best case scenario. Bye Bye Joe, bring home HUD to capitalize on 2021 and 2022.

You’re analysis of the other teams is not great. Auburn is not reloading next year, they are taking huge hits. A&M might be better, probably not, Fisher will likely get exposed next year. Arkansas is young, but are showing no improvement this year, which is more telling than anyone would like to admit.
It really just sounds like you have your mind made up and a looking to fulfill that prophecy for yourself.

QB - Shrader, Mayden or a JUCO/transfer
RB - Hill, Witherspoon, Marks
WR - Mitchell, Payton, Williams, Heath, Gardner, Ducking
OL - Parker, Reese, Smith, Eiland, Sharp, Johnson, Cross, Cunningham, Dolcine
TE - Jones, Spivey

CB - Dantzler, Williams, Emerson, Jones
S - Morgan, Peters, Murphy, Guidry
LB - Gay, Thompson, Wheat, Brule, Johnson
DT - Lovett, Crumedy, Love, Key, McCrae, Pickering
DE - Jones, Odom, Lawson, Davis

We might really not be THAT terrible next year, especially if Hill, Dantzler and Thompson are back, which it seems they will be. Need to keep Mayden or find an older quarterback so Rogers can redshirt. I really hope Pickering and the rest of the true freshmen defensive tackles are redshirting, I know he in particular has now played 4 games. I don't see the need in having he and Lovett, Lovett, Crumedy and Love all in the same class.

Either way, we are now playing for 2021 and 2022. No matter the coach.

I marked through the ones you shouldn't expect to be here next season. It's going to be a ROUGH(er) season next year.

Mostly the fact that the popular opinion is we don't hold onto Marks. Then your backup RB is a guy that has no business being an SEC RB so far.

I see nothing on 247 that alludes to Marks decommitting. He may, I certainly don't know. So please shed some light on that if you have it.

I still say Hill, Gay, Thompson and Dantzler will all be back next year. And if they aren't, they are kinda stupid, which means we might not need them. Let's just say that Bear and Beniquez were not our problem in 2016. Unless they have break out games against Alabama.

None of them are Fletcher Cox level good, thus ready to come out of school early. I get Hill wanting to do it though to prevent injury and just take what he can get.

Didn’t josh Robinson try and come back to finish school? Didn’t he have to pay for that?

Would you like me to May a cash flow chart?

Yr 0 - $500k
Yr 1 - $-10k school

OR

yr 0 - free school
Yr 1 - $500k

It’s probably abt the same difference.

It’s probably abt the same difference.

$10,000 is only 2% of the $500k. He could have invested half that money at a conservative 5% return and easily covered the cost of school, and then some. He also could have gotten a serious injury as a senior and never touched a cent of that $500k (or whatever it was).

But of course, all that above is really splitting hairs as to what its all about for RB’s. Every additional year you play in college is one less year you can get paid in the pros. A 10-year pro career is better than a 9-year career. A 2-year career is better than a 1-year career. That’s the mentality you have to have. Nobody’s like “I’m gonna get paid for a year then come back to school if it doesn’t work out”. Robinson just didn’t want to work for it. Even after he got cut by the Colts, he had other opportunities in the CFL and even abroad. He signed a deal with a team in Finland, then got cut when he just flat out didn’t show up for camp. He didn’t want it enough.
