Looks like Gay is currently behind LL and Hill is #3 for RBs. What shake ups are you guys expecting? [/FONT]

Looks pretty good and as expected to me. Other than the part where I bang my head against the wall for being a bunch of midgets at WR again...

Remember that time Bear went to the draft? Could've really used him another year.

Don't we have some younger guys with height?

Our Season pretty much rests on the players in bold. We know we are adequate everywhere else. If they are adequate, we're looking at 8 wins.

Other than the part where I bang my head against the wall for being a bunch of midgets at WR again...

Heard an interview with Fitz and he said that both Jesse Jackson (6-2) and Jamal Couch (6-4) were impressing him in the passing workouts. Todd was mentioned too. Most intriguing on the roster are Reggie Todd (6-4) and Osirus Mitchell (6-4)

Out of the 7 WRs listed, 5 are 6-3 or over. Just an FYI.

Our top 3 returning WRs are on the shorter side (5-10 to 6-1ish), but our WR corps is anything but short.

I watched JJ for several years when he was at Petal. He is a baller.

Who do we have at QB after Kenan Thompson? I don't keep up well enough, but I did see 3 or 4 green shirts in the most recent video release.

Losing Rankin in 18 will suck... but that OL will be very good next year if all those guys stick around.

I think you're seeing why a lot of programs wanted Couch on Defense. Long way to go for the kid, but He probably had further to go as a WR than the fan bases admitted.

Surprise to me that both Alec Murphy and Kylin Hill are listed above Nick Gibson. Needless to say, good problem to have.

I hope one of the bigger guys (Couch or Todd most likely) has a breakout season. And I really hope this doesn't turn into another year of a senior starting just because he's a senior. I can see that happening at two positions in particular.

I also think our front 7 will look a little bigger all around this year.

Noticed that the starting O only has 2 Seniors (Martinas Rankin & Donald Gray) starting and 0 additional Seniors in the 2/3-deep.

Defense has only 3 starting Seniors (Dez Harris and 2 CBs .. Lashard Durr & Tolando Cleveland) and only 2 in the 2/3-deep (Traver Jung & JT Gray)

STs has 1 Senior .. Logan Cooke

Sure bodes well for 2018 season .. especially, losing only 1 OL.

I wonder if Mullen plays Thompson in game 1 or tries to keep him off the field all year?

Just imagine how much it would suck right now if he hadn't redshirted in '15. Granted, '15 might have been very different if he'd played and developed at the same rate he did last year, but that's pretty heavy speculation.

I think he plays early and often. With Fitz as the only guy with live game experience, and with the incoming depth at the position over the next 2-3 years, you get Key out there and comfortable ASAP.

Thompson's our #2 QB. We'll get him some game experience right from the beginning. If the new rule where players can redshirt if they play less than about 4 games is in effect, we may still be able to redshirt him if all goes well. But if not, getting him some experience today is worth more than a redshirt.

Can't disagree with that. I also can't wait to see him on the field.

According to "sources" ... when Rip came on board Mullen told him that they are wanting one of the walk ons to earn the backup spot so they can RS Key. However, it would be hard to believe we don't see Key early on.

Didn't Fitz have a problem last year too with his helmet coming off after runs? Got to think that's going to happen some this year and it would be scary to have a walk-on QB come into the game in a critical situation.

Looking at that Front 7 on defense just gets me pumped to watch our defense play. Haven't felt that way in a couple years.

That redshirt rule is still a proposal. I don't think we see it go into effect this season.

One thing you can't criticize Mullen on, he never treats his personnel decisions as short term. I'm finding it hard to believe that the '15 o-line wouldn't have been better with Rankin starting. Not sure what kind of difference he would have made. He probably could have been teh difference for LSU, but not that early in the season. DOn't remember enough of the Egg Bowl to know whether a legit LT would have really changed things.

People criticized Mullen for supposedly wanting out, and maybe it did have a negative impact on some of the effort in recruiting, but I think a lot of (most?) coaches would have gladly made the short term decision if they thought they weren't going to be around to benefit from making the long term decision.

From all indications the front 7 should be good, but there are several we don't really know about. Specifically, Chauncy Rivers (hasn't played), Cory Thomas (up and down last year), Geri Greene (talented, but I question his desire), Daz Harris (unknown).
