Might have been told to look elsewhere as we seem to be good at RB in terms of bodies. Probably would want to save scholarship spots for DL or even OL.

Could be several reasons. He couldn't qualify academically, he has a better NIL deal somewhere else or maybe he thought the RB room was too full. Whatever, it's better for this to happen now than later.

Good Lord, it's like an afternoon soap opera in the NU athletic dept.

If you think something like this qualifies as a soap opera, you might want to look away for the next couple weeks.

BTW, this should come as 0% of a surprise to anyone. It would have been shocking if he actually ended up here after not being able to enroll for the Spring and then signing Grant.

I always figured he offer wasn’t commitable after Ajay signed.

Every division one school is going to be an ongoing soap opera for the next couple of years. “One life to live” would seem to be the appropriate title.

So we are offering kids through the portal and they make it public, we announce it but several months later we say the offer wasn't committable. Right, got it.

The soap opera comment was a generality, not just this kid. I had long forgot about him.

I think coaches have to be fair and honest about their offers otherwise their reputation would get ruined. I don't know this for a fact but I am guessing he was told that his offer would be conditional based on eligibility and numbers in the room. When Grant committed and was immediately eligible I would bet that he was told that they could now only honor the offer if someone dropped out after spring ball. He was still interested so he waited but no one dropped out.. hence the announcement. Again it's just a guess.

He seems like a great kid. I wish him the best and hopes he finds a good landing spot.
