I always assumed it was pronounced "Tims", actually I've never thought about it being pronounced any other way.

with the last name Thames that is pronounced the same way...it's ok, believe me. If it's ok in Vicksburg, it's ok...unlike a name like Favre that is pronounced Farve...on the sorry *** coast.

Of course it is pronounced "Tims" and of course this should be no surprise because there is fairly famous river in England by that name.
