My point is, no coach does the **** Sanders does, it's like he's in a reality show where everything is scripted.
we agree.

the message in this case, however, is the same as is delivered by every coach in the country (have your teammate's back).

it's just being delivered by a famous celebrity rah rah cheerleader whose son follows him around all day every day with a video camera.

I know the vast majority disagree with me. and they are correct in the stance they're taking.

they're also just arguing against something that didn't even happen ("deion encourages fighting")

They do, but it sure the hell isn't "one fights, we all fight." GIve another example outside of Boulder.
It works in the WWE Royal Rumble, but not in college football.

Every coach teaches you have your teammates back by pulling the dumbass away before he escalates it into a penalty bonanza and really costs the team dearly. No one can disagree with that.

100%. Why is this so hard to grasp? Would the same posters have trouble with this if the coach wasn’t “Prime”?

agreed with the first sentence.

2nd paragraph is irrelevant, because it's based on a false (fake news) premise.

I don't have trouble with any of it. that's been my entire point the whole time.

it's the people who seem to believe he was encouraging fighting (fake news) who have a big problem with it.

One fights, we all fight. He did encourage fighting by that comment. Did we imagine that?

Since I always refer to you as kong, now I have taken your king. Checkmate.

yea, no kidding. I'd up that to 100%.

did you hear deion yelling at the kids who broke the fight up or who ran in to deescalate (there were many)?

or just the 2 who turned their backs?
Tomorrow, he'll be telling them that they don't fight. As long as the video camera is rolling.

I find it rather delightful to see all these people tear him apart in terms of credibility only to take his every word as gospel.

smells narrative-ish to me, especially considering the context & the fact he didn't yell at any of the kids who broke up the fight, only the 2 who turned their backs.

Look, I don't dislike Sanders, I just despise his schtick. He thinks he's gonna win with smoke and mirrors and there are 12 opponents out there that are learning how to push his team's buttons already. And Deion's as well.

did he yell at the kids who stopped the fight? or just the 2 who turned their backs?

can you answer that & level it with the belief he's "encouraging fighting"?

Did he yell at the kids who were fighting? Or just the ones who didn’t jump in?

We agree.

Anything but turning your back on a teammate (the message).

You’ll notice he didn’t yell at the players who were actively breaking up the scuffle to instead fight their teammate (fake news).

Just the 2 who left their teammate high and dry.
But he used the words one fight we all fight.

Again, the problem with this exact scenario is that the offensive team was successful on the play. They did enough of what they were supposed to do to score a TD. I think this is a bad play to use as an example for the having your teammates back mantra that you seem to believe is the message. #68 made a bonehead play. There should be no reason to come to his defense. The player should have simply gone to the sideline or joined his teammates in celebration. The cause of the problem does not appear to be addressed. No one needs to come to 68's defense, if 68 simply does his job and doesn't make a dumb play.

This is like blaming the QB for an interception when the WR ran the wrong route. The WR walks away like he did nothing wrong and the root cause of the problem wasn't addressed.

I level it with the belief in what I heard. One fights, we all fight. He didn't say, hey you 2 guys that turned your back on your teammates, you're not part of the team. If he wanted to make a point, he could have just publicly suspended them the first game.

If he wanted to make his point, he had a perfect opportunity to do it right there. Show them the consequences. Back it up.

I have some bad news for you:

QBs are publicly scolded for interceptions that aren't their fault in front of the team ALL THE TIME as a way to - please hear me out, everyone - send a specific message to the team

it's practice. the play is irrelevant. it's a coach attempting to send a message to his team. that's it.

I get it. I really do. he's as polarizing a person as has ever held a post like his.

but that shouldn't blind you to the obvious.

people hate deion so much my friend @headcard seriously accused me of being a CU fan (LMAO).

You are a Deion Sanders fanboy and your love fest with him has blinded you to reality. It’s now to the point that you ignore his actual words and actions and make up what you think he meant and/or what you assume he said off camera, because you can’t see any flaws in your hero.

just the ones who didn't jump in. they were the ones he was making an example of.

I assume he doesn't have a problem with a scuffle between players during the 3rd week of camp in the sweltering heat.

I would be incredibly disappointed if I heard we have had zero shoving matches during what looks to be a very physical camp.

this is literally what he said
So they were suspended and faced consequences? Or was he just flapping his chops?

What happens the first time in a game when someone isn't protecting his son?

If Sanders feels like you don't reward bad behavior, it was a perfect opportunity to show what consequences mean.

I promise you in my world, when raising my children or coaching any one of many teams, they KNEW I would not reward bad behavior. They knew the rules beforehand, not off the cuff in the heat of the moment.

That's how you build winners, not excuse makers.

BTW, I'm running low on ink.

And coaches that do not address the root problem turn out to be unsuccessful. It is just like any business, the successful leaders are those that are able to determine where the problem is and fix that.

Hell, I don’t dislike him and I find his schtick entertaining (comical).

What got me on this board is the obsession of these super fans. Calling posters racist, pussies, etc because they question the coach of CU. Creating multiple screen names and following posters around crying because they hurt your feeling by questioning your idol. I don’t care if you had his poster on your wall as a kid, that **** is pathetic.

I think you're conflating this with me thinking deion is a good coach

I do not think that

I don't think either you or I are saying he is a good coach, in P5 that is yet to be determined.

I think he is such a hyperbole machine, is so wishy-washy that he is setting himself up to implode under some circumstances.

I think college young men need to know to know where their position/coordinator/head coach is coming from with a message that resonates from a place of common sense. Sure that position, etc, coach is gonna ride your ***, there has to be some consistency and I think Sanders lacks consistency in every thing except his approach to teaching.

We talk about Sims. What happens to that team should Shadeur goes down early in the season? Remember, THIS is your QB.

agreed.

I am very interested to see how the sanders kid looks at QB.

I am also already holding a TCU -20 week 1 ticket.

I watched Shedur several times last year. He's a nice QB. He generally didn't get a lot of pressure on him. I hope him well other than our game 2 in Boulder, have nothing against the kid, he just has an unbearable old man.

I know their DB is a real hotshot. It'll be interesting to see what happens when they play USC and how that kid responds to Caleb Williams throwing lasers in his territory. I doubt he's faced many of those arms at Jackson St.
