When the DL jumps: why doesn’t every offense snap the ball and take a free play? Some teams train their center to see it and automatically snap the ball.

other offenses simply teach their OLto jump up and take the 5 yards.

thoughts?

Not always a free play. Might be blown dead depending on opinion of the defense having a free shot or not. Also, you run the risk of nothing being called. If the center thinks the D jumped...this would result in a potential issue with the other 10 players not being ready. If the offense jumps, they may be called for a false start. Seems common sense, but there are a lot of variables.
