He isn't reading this and he isn't going anywhere. Get over it. Go rant on Face Book. He probably come nearer to hearing it there than wasting space on a sports message board.

If that’s the case, then a comment on a waste of space post is exponentially a waste of space, right?

Unfortunately, Chris McDaniel is now more likely to have his political career advanced in this State because of his actions today. This is going to hurt the ones who are voting to change the flag, which is why their actions today are awesome. You rarely see politicians going against what their people want just because it’s the right thing to do. The ones voting no are the ones who will be our future leaders because they are doing what their constituents actually want them to do, as sad as that is.

You are correct. I want the flag change for football and economics. Putting that out there first. However we have a Representative goverment and the people we vote for need to do what we want. They have to vote for the majority in thier districts.

Chris McDaniel will never again be a factor in a statewide race - 2014 was his only chance due to extenuating circumstances with Cochran & the tea party movement. The only political careers that are endangered by this vote are Republicans who voted for the resolution that will face primary opposition. History will be kind to these folks that voted to remove that flag.

Agreed. Getting 16% of the vote against a woman who needed notes to get through a debate and laughed about attending public hangings, and a man who had to resign the presidential cabinet in disgrace for corruption, doesn't really bode well for his future.

Embarrassed to say we live in the same hometown. He’s one of the biggest sleezebags I’ve ever met. Can’t wait for someone else to represent Jones County.

Yes we have a Representative government, however they are free to vote as they please. Your recourse is to not re-elect them if they are not voting how the majority of the district wants. So yes, they need to vote how the district wants IF they want to be re-elected...but don't be disillusioned into thinking an elected official can't vote any way they see fit after they are elected.

I understand they don't have to vote with the majority of thier district but they were elected by the majority and if they want to keep their job and get elected they better vote with the way the majority of his district wants especially on a issue like this. Also I made it through life not being a prima donna candy *** like you.

By the way I don't like Chris McDaniels.

Chris MacDaniel and his sidekick have their elections funded by the SCV....

One of the classes I took as a poli sci major in the early 1990s at State explained that there are 3 basic models for how elected representatives can act: 1) delegate, 2) statesman and 3) politico. The delegate views their job as parroting what 50.1% of their constituents want, exercising no independent thought. The statesman is the opposite: their job is to educate themselves on the issues and make the best decisions possible, whether their constituency agrees with it or not. The politico is a hybrid: try to balance what their constituents want vs. what's best for the good of the whole. Most elected representatives are politicos. And, of course, we can always toss them out if we want to.

Those all make sense but this issue was a hard one for them. This was a clear line in the sand for many people in Mississippi. I figured 1/2 of Mississippians are pissed off right now. By the way my uncle served as a State Rep in Missouri. He said for every phone call on a issue they counted it as 500 others feel the same way. He said calling really does make a difference in politics. Politicians get really worried. They are all addicted to the position and don't want to lose it. In Missouri they have term limits. They are able to get things done because of term limits.

so you better call because the other side is doing it. I don't think it is a done deal yet.

In 2014, I was in a popular convenience store/restaurant In the Delta for lunch one day, when he and his cronies came in. He wanted to shake my hand, I just kept eating.

I hope you are correct. However, we didn’t put it to a vote this time for a reason. It would have been quite embarrassing for our state to vote to keep it, and that is what would have happened. Hopefully I’m off on this but I doubt it.

Very few Statesmen can hold office any longer. Get too educated on an issue and you're out. Flip flop on a vote because you got educated and you get crucified.

That's today's politics.
