We’ve struggled in that dungeon of a theater gym, or whatever it is for years, even with elite teams.
It wasn’t a good night for anybody wearing blue last night. The game started for us going 1/11 from the field, I think, by the 13:00 mark and we were already down by 11-12. We couldn’t buy a FG (of any nature), couldn’t hit a FT, Vandy was white hot and playing with much more purpose. While the officials had NO bearing on the outcome of the game, it was over at the 10:00 mark of the first half, they still were really bad. They were holding people, pushing Moreno underneath the basket, setting illegal screens, to no avail. Like I said though, this was Vandy’s game. We just didn’t show up.
We couldn’t hit layups, FTs, nothing.
It was bad for the players, Pope, and the fans. We ain’t this bad. It was just a game to throw away. We don’t have the best constructed team and it seems we usually don’t bring it in the first half, but we do have some good players and I think that we will rebound. I just hope they have short memories. Congrats to Vandy. Byington, or whatever his name is, really should refrain from making stupid comments though. Paybacks are hell.

He's been coming on here a long time usually civil however the timing is pretty insensitive and he's smart enough to know that. We may very well be the most passionate fan base in existence and emotions are at a boiling point so try to come at this time and be a good sport I don't believe as well thought out or maybe it was.
I’ve made post similar to this one that pope was a much better coach at BYU and even parts of last year. He seems to have crumbled under the weight of the job. Will always be a fan of pope the man but I am quickly growing to dislike pope the coach. In fact it is safe to say I am already there. I see no recovery in the future, this isn’t going to end well. Pope will gain a lot of respect if he resigns but if he doesn’t and digs in hoping to turn this around the fanbase is going to turn on him. We aren’t a patient fanbase on the hardwood since we used up 3 lifetimes worth of patience on the gridiron. Congrats on the win, appreciate the insight and it’s spot on.
