I posted in another thread that I had read we were suppose to get another recruit tomorrow. I wish I knew where I had read it from so I could link it.

He would have to get a waiver just like Sarr. Maybe they are planning on him having to sit out? Maybe he thinks he can beat out Brooks? Who knows, but I think UK should take him if he wants to be here!

I hope he comes. If he’s able to play this year I wouldn’t be surprised to see him or Brooks at the 3 (preferably Williams since he’s a good 3 point shooter). You could start Clark at the point and BJ at the 2.

if he sits out a year he becomes a great foundation to build the 21-22 team around.

He would be a great stretch 4. Can take a bigger player out away from the basket. He is a excellent passer. Could truly be a dribble / drive guy. He averaged 3 assist per game. Not very many big guys can stay with him off the dribble, smaller guys he can raise and shoot over. He is a match-up nightmare on offense, and very quick jumper on defense. He would be better than a freshman Ware or Fletcher. And this is coming from someone who absolutely loves Fletcher's game and thinks he will be a stud. Just not right away. It is an advantage to have a veteran guy like that to have and let the freshman be typical freshman and learn at their own pace. Do not make the same mistake and expect immediate success from guys like Ware and Fletcher as soon as they step on campus. Especially with big men, they can and do take time to adjust. With Sarr and hopefully Williams it will give UK the luxury of having the ability to let them learn at a normal pace without all the added pressure of producing from day 1. it is not fair to the kids nor fans to expect and count on the young guys to come into a huge stage and expect them to put up 14 and 8 every game. Having depth and a deep roster is a plus, not a minus.

If Cal wants him, he will fit him in. He will make it work.

My 8-man rotation would likely be:

G Mintz
G Askew
G Clarke
G Boston
F Brooks
F Williams
F Jackson or Ware
F Sarr

Jackson and Ware will split time as a backup to Sarr until SEC play, when I expect one will emerge as the primary backup. My guess is Jackson wins the job. Fletcher won’t play much once SEC play starts. I don’t see Allen getting much PT after sitting for a year and a half for his injuries and with all the talent in front of him. Hopefully, as a Kentucky kid, he is patient.

I'd love to have him, but where's he fit?

Doesn't make any sense to transfer and come off the bench/fight for minutes.

Maybe Ware/Jackson don't scare him and he sees himself and Brooks battling for minutes at the 3/4.

Plus, Mulder and Dodson both picked Kentucky knowing we had guys like Miller/Liggins (Dodson) and Briscoe/Matthews (Mulder) and maybe Murray on the way. I know they were JC guys, but it's the same issue.

Can you imagine how good those two can become next year after sitting out and practicing against this group?
Something Pitino did that I wish Cal had done all along was bringing In a traditional transfer each year who’d practice with the team and be ready to contribute after a year. With the high turnover we’ve seen it would have made a lot of sense. Maybe Cal will use it more if the one time transfer rule doesn’t pass.

Dare I say platoon?

No don’t say it....it’s silly to substitute 4-5 guys at a time. Florida State has consistently played a rotation of 9-11 guys the last couple years and won a lot and they don’t substitute in mass like a hockey game.

We usually scream for Cal to fill the scholarship slots. If he does it with this guy then so be it. Depending on us getting the big guy

So I he committs they will either let both Sarr and Williams play or both have to sit?? Aren't they both in the same situation?

I mean we don't know if Sarr gets cleared so Williams who also has to be cleared but has even a worse story could play the 5 in small-ball if Sarr can't go. Williams would be as good if not better than anyone we have on the roster. I know he's not a 5, but he could play it if Sarr isn't released. Either way, I think Cal is going to try to load our frontcourt as much as he can. It was just 2 years ago we had PJ, RT, Nick, and EJ all on the same team. We aren't close to that right now and we need another big, but with questions open, I think we should try to add 2 more guys. That would give us 12 because I believe Toppin is sitting out regardless. Then if one falls through we still have 11 which is what we need. If not we have more than enough at 12.

I just think we need to add one more if it's a guy with experience or a Top guy, but if it's the kid who's 100+ then we need 2 because that guy isn't going to give us much of anything in year one. With Sarr, we have one center on the roster. Hell in a normal year where injuries and fouls could come into play you would want at least 2 and we don't even have Sarr 100% yet. I would really like to see Cal add 2 more and we roll into next year with a possible 12 and at worse 10-11 if clearance isn't given.

If we just add one more than I would hope it's a guy like Cisse who is supposed to reclass, but I like Williams a lot. At 6ft9 I know he's more of a stretch 4, but if we had to have him I'm sure he could man the 5 as good as the Freshman options we have or better.

I think too many of us are underselling Allen. I think he will play like a sophomore. It would be ironic if Williams came to UK and ended up taking playing time from Brooks (who I expect bigger things from-one of my favorite players), IF he is the one Brook's father is alluding to. Also, as fans, our loyalty to certain players-as Calipari is often accused of- can create dilemmas for us. IF williams came here and could play next year, and proved to be one of our top 5 players, should he, or should he not become a starter over a freshman, or a returning player? Would Calipari do what's best for the team, or what most fans expect-which isn't necessarily in the best interest of the team? Let's face it-we all have our imaginary best starting lineups based on rankings, recruiting gurus, and game videos. JMHO's! Go BBN!

Two left

Allen
Brooks
Mintz
Sarr
Boston
Clarke
Askew
Ware
Fletcher
Jackson
Toppin
I'm pretty sure the plan is for Toppin to sit out regardless right? So actually that would be 3 open. Everything I read made it sound like he wanted to sit out and that was the plan.

Cal switched this year and went with the best 5 when he switched to the 3 guard lineup over the Freshman. That makes me think Cal is done with appearing Freshman who might quit or transfer anyway. He gave Whitney and Juzang plenty of minutes and support and it didn't work out for **** so maybe he's ready to roll with the best he has like last year.

Another thought. IF Sarr isn't eligible to play next year-God forbid!-Wouldn't we rather have Williams to take up some of the scoring/rebounding slack? Most of us expect very little from Anselem his first year. 2-3 yrs. down the road-Anselem could definitely improve enough to help us out-unless he is impatient and transfers.

That's what I'm saying if Sarr doesn't get cleared then we need Williams at the 5 in small-ball. If Sarr does get to play we could still use a stretch 4 who is lethal from 3. Either way, I hope we try to add 2 more guys to give us 12 (Not counting Toppin) because if one is Williams then that's 2 we have to go to the NCAA about.
