He’s coming off a minor injury but Woolfolk is outplaying him right now.
I like seeing Woolfolk getting the minutes he’s getting. I like his court Vision a lot. Even though more than a few of those passes didn’t get through today.
Reiber is more consistent but because I expect Woolf to surpass him pretty soon, probably within a month, I want to see him grabbing as much time now as he can.
With that said, if Cliff can’t make his outside shots when he’s in there with Woolf, then that’s just gonna jam up the middle too much. In which case we might need Cliff & Reiber since Reber does force a defender to stay on the perimeter with him

I’d like to see DR getting double the minutes he currently is. Anyone else?
Reiber should play more if he takes and makes 3's. That's really what he brings on the offensive end. His defense and maybe his rebounding is not as good as Woolfolk.

No doubt that we’ll need Reiber. Putting a stretch 4 out there with only one true big is a luxury that will be nice to have depending on the matchups.

To give Reiber twice as many minutes who do you take them from? Hyatt is giving you solid minutes, scoring and rebounding. Woolfolk is showing you he can play with Cliff. Don't see who you take them from.

Gonna depend on game, but I’d scrape seven minutes from Mag/Aundre.

Caleb comes back and takes 32 minutes

Basket S (small) is Simpson Spencer and Mulcahy

Basket B (big) is Mag Dean Hyatt Wolf

I think Caleb’s minutes comes more from Basket B.

Simpson Spencer Mulcahy Caleb will probably play more than 120 minutes which means they eat from the 4 plate.

I think Mag and Hyatt only play the 4 (for the most part).

My 11/13 guess…..

Paul 33 Simpson 7
Spencer 23 Simpson 17
Caleb 30 Spencer 10
Hyatt 14 Mag 19 Caleb 3 Wolf 4
Cliff 33 wolf 7

my conviction is low. Just my best case guess

1. Reiber may D, reb and hit 3s to get in rotation
2. May be wrong about Mag > Hyatt

Pike does a good job mixing and matching. I think Dean will get many chances to shine and against some teams he will be a matchup we want in there. Against others maybe he won’t play as much. He can shoot that’s for sure.

Caleb might play some 1-2. I also think Miller may continue to get 5-7 mpg spelling Paul at point at the end of the first half. That’s been Pike’s go to substitution.

Yes and yes

every minute Miller plays is taken directly from the bigs bucket. I think Paul, Caleb, cam and Derek minutes are pretty constant. They are going to add up to 120 or slightly above it.

simpson may be the only guy who would be in danger playing under 20 minutes, but I am going to guess not. His willingness to defend will give him some currency for the mistakes he will make along the way. I think he will be a pike’s kind of player.

Let’s see what the deal is with Paul’s shoulder. That could have an impact on things.

Temple doesn’t turn the ball over much and Caleb will be finding his legs (assuming he plays), but should Paul sit the next one out (or play limited minutes) we’d get first glimpse of what the transition game can look like with our returning BIG DPOY playing alongside a much speedier, more explosive-oriented cast (at every position). That’s not meant as a knock on Geo or Ron, but there’s no question Simpson and Cam run the floor better than them in transition and that’s one thing that Mag/Hyatt seem (through a few games) to do better than Ron. Last year’s team mostly slowed pace and set up halfcourt offense off of Caleb’s steals.

I'd flip Mag and Hyatt at this point and prob make that closer to 21-12 than 19-14

Caleb won't be playing vs Temple

I would love to see minutes breakdown to be something like this.

A 3 group break down,
Paul, Cam, Derek 75 minutes, 4th Jalen
Caleb, Hyatt, Mag 75 minutes, 4th Oskar
Cliff, Woolf, Dean 50 minutes, 4th Chol
Something along those lines when all are healthy, and in some players might use minutes from other groups along the way, foul trouble, off night or injuries.

Pike is all about matchups and earning your time defensively and on the boards. If he wants to open up the lane more and get their big guys out of the lane , that is when Dean will play more and be the Stretch 4 that we need and Derek and Cam and Paul can penetrate and drive.

I was talking off season that Woolfolk was going to give us a decent 5-8 minutes backup for Cliff and it appears he will do more. He has shown he will immediately contribute and even more so than anything Dean has done. I like Dean a lot and still think he has another gear and potential but Woolfolk’s football skills are evident. Plus he doesn’t back down and gives us toughness down low. I really wouldn’t worry about Dean’s minutes especially since it appears the team is playing well and do not need Dean’s threes to have us separate from teams.

I think your A steals minutes from B.
A- 90
B- 65
C- 45

Oskar is happy to be included!

Lets hope when Paul and Caleb come back Miller gets no minutes; He is still a liability on the offensive end and I am not sure why everyone is gung ho about his defense watch closely he gets beat very easily and often off the dribble; in Saturdays game he went down to double down when Cliff's man had the ball and left his man wide open for an easy 3;

He hasn’t played much to draw this conclusion either way.

As long as we keep winning without Caleb, him being out is a net positive for the program long term as the younger guys get more run to develop. But we want him back in time to play with the guys some before B1G play starts with Indiana for sure.

No competitor should be happy losing minutes to a true freshman. I'm sure he wants more PT
