A little nerd math here... let's say that Wade comes in to score 30 in this game (almost twice his per game average for the season btw).
Let's take a look at the UMBC game stats to see what that would do.
Wade plays an average of 33.6 minutes per game, so those minutes have to come from other players. Based on season playing time averages, here's who made up for his absence:
Mawien (+12min)... 0.34 points per minute vs UMBC
Sneed (+3min)... 0.24 points per minute vs UMBC
Stokes (+8min)... 0.12 points per minute vs UMBC
Diarra (+10min)... 0.15 points per minute vs UMBC
If we look at those 4 players' PPM in the game vs UMBC, & adjust for their new playing time, KState as a team loses 7.2 points from that massive 50 points they hung on the 16 seed. Now take those away, add in Wade's hypothetical 30 & we arrive at 72.8 points.
Boys... if we can't score 73 on KState, then we don't deserve to beat the fighting Bruce Webers & the cyborg mercenary they call Wade.
