I feel Dean deserves his own thread. Dude just keeps plugging away, making the most of his minutes and playing with confidence. Making offensive and defensive plays. He looks like a stretch four to me with his ability to sink a three. Like him and Cliff on the floor together. If he becomes a reliable 5th scorer with 5-8 pts/game RU offense watch out.

Guy is outplaying his ranking coming out of HS. Kudos to coach P and staff.

100! Going forward, maybe some of us will have a little more patience with our younger players.

Let’s start a THREE-ber fan club!!!

The game has definitely slowed down for Dean. He’s essentially a redshirt freshman, unheralded yet coming up big against a top 20 team (and others recently).

Also, I would think the patience and calmness of Paul on the floor has to help our younger guys feel more comfortable out there.

I think we were a better offense at times with Reiber. While he is working his tail off to develop his defense I also think Cliff really has progressed on D himself. Like Cliff still for his defense, but wow Dean is coming on strong. Fun future as we have heard both working hard and will only get better. This is a developmental program at it’s core. This is RU

Cliff getting better but still gets caught out of position on the high screen pick and rolls as he overcommit too much

Didn’t think the kid had “it” with the limited playing time the early part of the year. He is proving that he can play a role.

Dean also deserves to have his last name spelled correctly in his own thread.

Dean is a good stretch 4, capable of holding his own down low except against the meaty 5's. He makes good cuts and passes and has a nice stroke. If this is indeed Ron's last season and Dean takes over as the starting 4 next season, that's a match up problem for opponents until Cliff needs a rest. Hopefully we can add another big man in the portal to have that option.

No forced shots. Letting the game come to him. Love the assists. Love him playing the two man game. Still playing defense too much with his hands but I thought his position was much better. Boxing and sealing on rebounds needs a little work. Looked okay fighting through screens -must be stronger than he looks. He was a huge part of yesterday's win. Cliff def learning a thing or two from him. Hit 99% of the easy ones! (Cliff was 6 for 6 yesterday.)

Dean has sneaky quick hands on blocked shots, deflections and steals. As his foot movement and positioning improve, he’ll become a very good defender.

Dean can't start at the 4 if we don't have other bigs who can play

Interesting to see how Pike sees Dean's role moving forward. 4/5 matchup depending

I’ve just closed my eyes again
Climbed aboard the Dean Reiber train
Pikiell take away our worries of today
And leave the losses behind

Ooh Dean Reiber
We believe you can show so much more
Ooh Dean Reiber
You believe we can reach the Final Four

Fly up high way above the rim
Maybe hit an open three
Cross court passes with so much ease
Help us to forget our history

Ooh Dean Reiber
We believe you can show us so much more
Ooh Dean Reiber
You believe we can reach the Final Four

Though the season may be ending soon
There still may be some time
Take us away to the Madness that we crave
And lead us to the Win sublime

Dean reminds me of the kind of Wisconsin big men who played under Bo Ryan. He used to redshirt big men “projects” and turn them into major contributors. Hopefully, Dean follows that trajectory.

Dean is actually a fairly quick north to south mover, laterally is his problem but I think the jury is still out if he can become a four. Interesting to see whether we develop him to be a stretch four or as a big

If Dean can consistently scores 8 to 12 points per game the rest of the way , it will real help open up the offense. Easier buckets for Cliff for sure.

I don’t think he is quick enough for 4. Give it a try though.
You watched the game and didn’t think he is “quick” enough? What I have seen recently tells me he is not only quick enough but tough enough . This kid will only get better in the next several years . The emergence of Paul Mulcahy is one of the reasons Reiber is playing well and with confidence. Keep him in the gym, weight room and feed his growing body.

I've always thought of Reiber as more of a 4, then a 5. I think he's done a surprisingly good job defending opposing 5's, but certain matchups he's just way undersized.

Definitely has skills though. Has shown shooting ability, passin ability, ability to put the ball on the floor, needs to continue to develop but I see no reason why he wouldn't.

His blocks per minutes played also really good.

The problem with Dean at the 4 is that means backup 5 minutes go to Agee which I don't want to see. Only for spurts in certain matchups. It might be needed against OSU

The bottom line is if other teams perceive Reiber, PM and Cliff to be legitimate scoring threats, then our offensive game totally opens up. I like Cliff's shooting form from 10-15 feet and have no problem when he shoots it.
Cliff is also so athletic that if a shot goes up while he's spacing the floor, he can come flying in for the offensive board. It also opens up lanes to crash the boards for others
