David Long

I went back and watched David Long highlights. After doing so, I don't think I realized just how important he is to our defense. He is the one player on defense that is a playmaker. This type of player tends to rub off on others. Other than McDougal, Benton and Daniels, we seem to be flat on defense. I am hoping that Longs return rubs off on other players and helps raise their level of play. I want to see more flying around and swagger on defense with the exception of Benton who seems to be too hyped resulting in his over playing gap responsibility.

I think his return will have a huge impact on this game - both in his ability and how much he affects the defense.

I thought as last season developed Long's improvement reached the point that he was invaluable to the defense. His absence this season proves it. I hope he returns and continues his progress to greatness.

I don't think it can be overstated how badly we need to get healthy on D. Long, I think, will have an immediate impact. He really is a playmaker and frankly, that's something we're lacking right now.

I said it Saturday and I'll say it again, there is absolutely no intensity on the entire team but more specifically, on defense. Flat as a day old Coke.

We've seen games where there was a lack of intensity/passion but, it's been a long time since we've seen multiple games where they seem to just be going through the motions. To me, it looks like that almost all of the team is have no fun whatsoever. Not sure what it is whether coaching or whatnot but it needs fixed quickly or we're going to get waxed a lot. That's just my two cents though....it's probably worth less than that.
