Wasn't there a highly touted 4 star lineman named Davidikoff (sp?) on the orster - I don't see him anymore, I know he hadn't played much but was wondering what happened to him?

"Offensive tackle David Davidkov, who was a four-star recruit and NBC All-American in high school, did not play a snap in his two years at Iowa due to injuries. Davidkov is also on medical scholarship but will no longer play football, Ferentz said."

We have had bad luck with OL recruits for the past couple of years be it recruiting or injury.
I hope we turn it around soon or we may no longer be in the discussion as a leading developer of OL. Talent.

Not just Davidkov but Ince and Britt are two guys that were good recruits, showed promise early in their careers but were just wiped out by injuries. They should have been experienced leaders in the O line the last couple of years but were just observers.

This group now, however, is no longer inexperienced. Richman, Colby and Stephens have all all have starting experience, and after Colby settled back in at guard played well. RT and C have been awful. Hence some smoke floating around about Dotzler at RT where DeJong has experience but little else. Was the coaching change merely a coincidence or the cause of the deterioration in line play the last two seasons? This year should answer that question.

CFB is a tough deal with no guarantees of greatness. Most programs deal with large amounts of injuries and recruits that had talent but couldn't stay healthy.

Didn't covid pandemic knock out his senior season in Illinois, as well.

The pandemic impacted a number of student-athletes physically and/or mentally.

Iowa saw their share of players walk away for various reasons, including Justice Sullivan for extended covid.
