Well, I went and watched Daton Fix and the Sandites disassemble the Stillwater Pioneers last night. Fix wrestled Tyler Dieringer who he beat 26-11. It was actually close after the first period at 4-1. In the second period Fix had 8 take downs and that was all she wrote. Dieringer is a three time state qualifier and two time state placer so he isn't chopped liver. Should be interesting for Fix this weekend as well as several Oklahoma teams since they will be at the Geary tournament. If I'm right these teams will be there:
#1 Blair Academy from NJ
#11 Tuttle
#17 Sand Springs
#18 Choctaw
Strong tournament.

Fix and Gfeller are very good recruits for this year and everyone has heard I don't think much of our current true freshmen. I've also stated this is our chance to win and so we need to progress this year. We need Piccinini and Smith to start wrestling and need Rogers to go with his scuffle win. I don't see us a contender next year. For the future we need to get a transfer or recruit 57, 84 and HWT. For 2018 I notice a lot of the top kids are committing this early. There does not appear to be a top Oklahoma kid and so I hope we are working hard at recruiting for 18. Steveson would be quite the hwt or the brother of PenN. St.'s HWT. I was thinking Carr 57 would fit in good with us although he did get beat bad in the finals of a recent tournament but he could be special. By the way with 84 I hope that Moore really improves and can take over. I have real questions about how good Marsden would be ( it seems getting unto his legs seems very easy for quality wrestlers). For 2019 I think Oklahoma has a Hwt that won cadets in Fargo.

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame on Monday announced the state and regional winners for the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award (DSHSEA) and the Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award (TSHSEA).

The 2017 DSHSEA Regional Winners are:

Fix captured the USA Wrestling Triple Crown in 2013, and was a Youth Olympic silver medalist in 2014 and a Cadet World bronze medalist in 2015. He is a two-time Pan American champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman, and he was a FloNational Champion in 2015. Fix also lettered in cross country and was named Athlete of the Year for football in 2013. He is active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and volunteers to read to children at Read Across America while also working as a peer tutor for special needs physical education. You guys have a great one in Daton. What weight do you all think he starts and ends in college?

Where's Gfeller on that list?
Where's Gfeller on that list?
Gfeller is a tweener at the moment due to growth spurt. On Flo he is #15 ranked in their pound for pound and listed at 149. However in the individual rankings he is #4 at 138 behind Arujau, Sammy Sasso and Austin Gomez. He would therefore be 4th team AA behind the above three who are listed 1,2,3.
