So is he actually coming in or not?

Heard we may not have a scholarship open for him?

Also all the new signees are on the roster, Daniels is not listed.

The fact that he isn't listed yet was a sidenote.

My main point was that I heard that he may have been told we do not actually have, nor expect to have a scholarship for him next season.

That would be strange though, wouldn’t it? He would only have it for 1 year, we won’t be full I don’t think, and it could tick off Damion... why risk it?

I don’t have connections to hear rumors, but this one sounds similar to Washington leaving the program mid season...

That would be surprising to me. We can take up to 30 this cycle.

He is coming, they are working on getting him admitted/enrolled in a grad program. They hoped to announce him yesterday, but there were some delays in getting his transcripts from OSU due to some fines he had to pay (probably some parking tickets, you know how that goes)

I don't think the staff will comment too much on Daniels until he is qualified to enroll at UNL. I see his situation as perfect for the program. There are a lot of scholarships available, so loading up with HS guys equals a class that will be unbalanced wrt other years. Since he will only occupy a slot for a year, his spot functions in a way like deferring a spot to next year's class. It would be great to get a couple of other grad transfers.

That was Fair, not Daniels
Yep. Fair is not coming probably precisely because Daniels is. They didn't if Fair's academics would go through, they did know about Daniels. Also arguably a talent upgrade with DD.

Their philosophy with JUCOs is becoming clearer. If your grades don't get you here in January, you'd better be an elite JUCO prospect. I don't think they want to take on any more rapid flame-outs like that CB they took last summer.

Excellent! A big NG was one of the things we were missing in last seasons team, especially when Mick got dinged up. And if he inspires his brother in the weight room, it'll be a double bonus.

Thought so, didn’t think we lost him. Not just because we haven’t seen anything yet. Big time gain with a player with D1 experience for a power 5 conference. Can’t ever replace that.

ByMICHAEL BRUNTZ 4 hours ago Share 27 Comments Nebraska officially landed a big graduate transfer on Friday morning, as former Oklahoma State defensive lineman Darrion Daniels announced he will play his final season at Nebraska. Daniels’ transfer was first reported by 247Sports in December, and adds a former four-star recruit and veteran presence to Nebraska’s defensive tackle room. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound Daniels played for the Cowboys each of the last four seasons. An injury limited him to four games in 2018 and allowed him to utilize his redshirt season. Daniels recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss and 1.0 sack in his four games. As a junior in 2017, Daniels started 10 games and had 26 tackles, five TFLs, a half sack, two pass breakups and a pair of quarterback hurries.

Really nice one year add. Bonus points for coming during a year of a big class, as the spot will open up at the end of the season.

instant impact player at NT. He's better at this point than his baby brother and we've seen how good baby bro could be when he's played. We're going to have a very nice D line rotation.

Didn’t realize he was ranked so high out of HS.
He also “earned the Vernon Grant Award for outstanding leadership, spirit and enthusiasm following the (2017) season.” Sounds like a Frost type of guy.
