Just came across this. This is bad look not only for him but the team. I understand fans can be cruel and sometimes just plain stupid. This fan didn't go out of his was to @ Darrion. Which mean Darrion made the effort to search his name and see what people were saying. I understand these are still young adults, they are frustrated with the team as much as us, but his response shows a lack of self control. This team needs to ignore the outside noise and stay focused.

Some of the crap that people are spewing deserves to be called out. It's more frustrating for the players and coaches than us. They're the ones putting in the work while we're sitting on our *** at our computers or watching TV. I don't blame him for being frustrated but it would probably be better if he could ignore the noise.

People cry when players retaliate back but they get crapped on by a lot of suppose fans daily. If the fans can’t handle when it is dished back, then don’t spew it towards the players to start.

Maybe he is pissed just like the fans. At any rate, there are a lot of cream puff keyboard warriors making personal attacks on various players. If you take those shots, getting called out to put up or shut up and do some 1v1 is exactly what the doctor ordered.

I would respond if I was a player...Shoot, I would search **** out too. Most of us are wired that way.

I totally get it from a player point of view. I would be pissed off too.

Seriously sad state of affairs we're in. Let's just pray Scott is the man to turn this around.

Not the first post of this type from DD, but whatever.
He transferred in from a program where the head coach didn't necessarily always suck up to the media or fans so it's not all that surprising. It would be better if he stayed away from social media probably but I would be pissed if I was him too.

Just for the record. IMO Darrion is one of the bright spots of our defense. He's a real man in that D line and they aren't getting much help from the linebackers. Our ineptitude in the backend is allowing teams to double him on just about every play.

I think we can all agree he shouldn’t have tweeted that, but I think we can all also understand his anger. I can’t imagine the nerve to talk crap about players like that on social media. DD is a human being, busting his tail for this program. He had plenty of options and chose to come here for his last season. These guys aren’t robots for our amusement, they are college students.

Im sure that could some of his frustration with this poster. Basically, "Im the only one working my *** off around here, and you call me out"

The reason you come to a place like Nebraska is because of the history and pressure. You know that going in. You think it's any different at the next level? It's even worse. If you're a player, it's time to grow up. Welcome to the real world.

I hope we are not getting back to the media and fans being enemies of the team like it was with Pelini. Sure some fans are jerks, but the vast majority are pretty understanding and tolerant, particularly given how crappy we’ve been. The fans are the life blood of this program. Take that away and then see where we are at. It won’t be good.

Just like we can't help but roll around in the stupid on this board after a game, he couldn't help but dig through Twitter.

I can't imagine the stuff people say to these kids. It has to range from the stupid to the wildly inappropriate.

Ah yes, when the media says facts you wish weren't true they're wrong to do it.

Reporting that the product on the field isn't very good and asking why isn't being an enemy of the team. He landed at Youngstown State and he's sucked there, too. So was the media spinning lies or was he a mediocre coach who got his *** kicked in big games?

Jesus, first it's the media's fault that they were too nice to NU by predicting they'd win the west, but also they were too mean to Bo. Which is it?

What was the context? Was somebody ripping DD's play or the team's play in general? I don't understand attacking DD, we'd be way worse off without him this year.

That being said, somebody on another site had good examples of why DD getting pissed is hypocritical - do you have to be a chef to criticize a restaurant? (Paraphrased). It is ridiculous to fall back on the 'well if your not a player or coach you can't criticize' bs. Pretty sure most of us have played football at some level (HS/College/whatever) so we have at least a very basic understanding of what is happening.

Somebody called him a Teddy Bear and he said let's meet somewhere for a one on one to see how weak he really is or something to that effect. It was harmless, other than he responded to an embedded tweet on Mike Schaeffers twitter.

It would suck to eat up double teams all game long only to get called out as weak. Maybe, just maybe 99 percent of the people that dont know jack squat about coaching or playing football have no idea that he did his job right nearly all of the time but those around him didn't.

I have no idea, I'm in the 99 percent. I just know I'm glad he's playing for us.

WHAT DID HE SAY?
He either deleted the tweet or he blocked non followers from seeing. It is gone. Someone called him a "teddy bear" and he tweeted back basically lets meet up 1 on 1 and you can teach me how to be tough.

Seems like something pretty dumb to get upset about. Getting called a teddy bear just shows that the person tweeting him doesn't know anything about football or is just blind. Not sure why that set him off.

I agree the whole “you didn’t play or coach D1 football, so you can’t talk” line of thinking is stupid. But attacking the players individually is BS. It’s one thing to say x restaurant isn't great or whatever. It’s another to say Johnny is a garbage waiter, he is ugly, can’t remember the specials because he’s stupid, etc. That kind of thing would piss Johnny or anyone else off.

Oh I agree about attacking the players individually. Just dumb, especially attacking DD, I mean what was that dude thinking? I'm just happy as hell DD is here, could be much worse without him.

Well when Chin spreads the front 7 all along the line of scrimmage to stop the run, how the hell is he supposed to get any help from the linebackers. Lol

Ignore the outside noise as a player. The only person's opinion that matters is your coach

Yeah we get pissed and out of hand.

But they need to understand where they chose to go to school and who they represent.

I just want hard and smart play. Not asking you to be champions.

Double teaming hey? There's an idea. Maybe that would help against a 3 man rush so we don't get tackled in the backfield.

Unfortunately we'd get a flag for a chop block
