That's not true. It was reported he reached out to guage interest. and decided to pursue other direction.
What other direction?I haven't heard of any point guards Cal is after from the portal.
Fair point....sounds like UK may not have reached out all. But points to why when a dude hits the portal....there is usually a reason and not likely to hit on great talent sources. We need to be filling in small holes in our roster...not lookign for 2-3 starters every year.
Guys like Sarr, Mintz, Wheeler, Grady, Toppin, Oscar, etc....of that whole bunch. We had one very good player in the bunch...Oscar. And Oscar's situation was a highly rated kid that didn't mesh with Huggins. Grady was the next best transfer and he had a really good career at Davidson and UK was only using him as a sniper. But to expect much more on annual basis from portal kids is a really bad idea.
You have to fill the roster out. Everyone wants to have more that 8 or 9 players on the roster, well this is how you can fill it. Like someone said, he could be looked at as an Allen replacement or what Allen should've been or a backup option for Fredrick.

It doesn’t need to make sense to you, since you’re not coaching UK right now. Cal knows a hell of a lot more about recruiting than you do, so let’s leave those decisions up to him. Make sense?

Even if he is not the quality we want and expect out of our top 8 guys, you still need guys in that 11th-13th spots who know they aren’t good enough (now) to get minutes, but maybe hope to in a couple years OR just want to make some NIL-$.
