I think Final Four is our ceiling, I can't see us winning it all with a poor man's R. Travis, Richards enough said, and our only hope, (EJ) from keeping in foul trouble. No way we win it all you need guys that will fight for rebounds to go along with all the other great pieces we have. We don't have that in the other 3 bigs.

This team ain’t even making the final four I’d bet. I’d gladly eat crow, but that ain’t happening with the bigs they have.

WTF MAN ,thats his choice for the best program to get you developed for the NBA and to win a title?!?! Did he not see Bol Bols lack of development, exposure ,tourny success ,and his slide down the draft board??? ‍ You'll never convince me that his "handlers" were on the take why else would you want to go play for Altman? Literally the only category Oregon beats UK in is the uniforms! . These decisions and the "handlers" influence has become laughable at this point. It's boneheaded decisions like this that has taken most of the recruiting excitement away. It's one thing to pick a powerhouse on the same level as UK, but picking places that have very very limited success like OU , Auburn, LSU, OK St. etc leaves a sour taste. You know the under the table BS that's keeping elite kids from Cal. I'm all for kids making the best decision for themselves but this wreaks of a handler getting his payday

Thank god for EJ and Sestina...

We have been a piece short since ‘15. Hopefully we can effectively play small ball.
I don't think EJ and Richard at C and Brooks and Sestina at PF is small ball at all. EJ is bigger then the average center in college these day ( 6'8 is average in major conference ) though his game isn't down low . Richarsds is a pure center and Sestina is travis' size and Brooks is 6'9 with tons of hop and is a beast on the boards when engaged.

Now I do think in 2020 and beyond we might see small ball but it won't be this year. We big af for modern cbb as all our front court goes 6'7 , 6'7 6'9 6'9 6'10 6'11 ( thats whitney juzang brooks sestina ej richards )

Glad we can focus on OUR team now but of coarse for depth would of loved Dante.

Have we ever lost a NCAAT game under Cal because of deficiencies from a center?

..more often than not, its poor shooting. 2010, 2015, 2018 and 2019 come to mind.

Watch this be the year Kentucky gets stacked up with top front courts. But still, people are making this a much bigger deal. And if you think Dante, a freshman reclass, was going to magically fix our frontcourt... you were going to be VERY disappointed.

Elite 8 is our ceiling. Frontcourt is gonna be mediocre at best. It will be our fatal flaw.

Very few teams have more than one really good big. Of course you would like to be loaded but EJ, Sestina and Nick should be good enough.

That being said.....I hate to be that guy, but how exactly can you rationally explain a kid from Kansas choosing to play at Oregon over Kentucky besides cheating? I'm sure the news stories will say relationship with coaches or something but come on.

Looking at the NCAA tournament winners since Cal arrived in 09-10 not named Kentucky, I'd say a front court of Richards, Montgomery, Sestina and occasionally Brooks, is better than, or equal to, all but maybe Duke 2015 and UNC 2017.

So saying Kentucky CAN'T win with what the Cats have is false -- especially if UK's 1-3 position players turn out to be as special as they can be. As I've noted many times before, winning is a long shot for any team, and every team going into next year has holes. But acting like the lack of another big man dooms the Cats is weak and inaccurate.

Thanks. No need for me to watch this season then. I’ll have some more quality time with my wife this winter since don’t have to watch.

Bol Bol's slide down the draft board had to do with an injury. He averaged 21ppg, 9rpg and 3pg prior to getting hurt and was a top 10 guy. As for Oregon, they've made the Final Four more recent than us and have an Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen to go with that in the past 4 years. You're acting like he chose Mercer.

Screw him. I hope UK plays them in the Final 4 and EJ breaks his face.
You don’t have to worry about Oregon going to the final four . They will do good to make the tournament! See Ya Dante you will be an after though all of next year and your NBA stock will be way lower than what it could have been .

lol so many negative nancies on this board. Please tell me, what front court has dominated in the final four recently? Virginia? Villanova? UNC? (decent but Joel Berry/Jackson carried that squad), Villanova again? No, it was their guard play that carried them.

Backcourts win in March and April. Our bigs are more than competent and talented. They won't be our strength, but they are definitely good enough. Our guards and forwards are what will carry this squad to a championship.
