5 star freshman QB from the midwest who has failed miserably at UCLA. His HC, Chip Kelly, is about to be fired and Moore's mother posted all over FB that he'll be leaving ucla because of the coaching incompetence.

Will Rhule and Co. throw 7 figures at him to come to Lincoln?

The question is why did he fail? Is he just another Harrison Becik, a five star dude out of high school who was grossly overrated? Or was it bad coaching? Or both? But the final question would be: is he better than we we have? Ha

Some red flags here. Has all the stars, doesn't seem to have progressed in his short time at UCLA. Maybe the O was not a good fit for him? The other part is mom's involvement and laying the blame squarely on the coaching staff. We really do not know how much effort the kid put in.

From LJS:
Harrison Becks mom told the Journal Star that her son would beat out Zac Taylor for the starting quarterback's job if the coaches devoted more time to him. She said Taylor is "just OK."

This kid only started three games and played in five games at the start of his True Freshman season. Far too early to write him off.
He had a score of 100 on 24/7 and was #4 rated player in the country, plus he's only a freshman. I'd take him in a heartbeat if he's willing to come here.

He was originally an Oregon commit.
The story I read has him linked as interested in them as a transfer option.

Jeff Sims was a 4-star QB out of high school. Just sayin'.

I'd rather bring in a winner, even if he is coming from a lower level, than another kid who is used to losing.

Sometimes stars don't mean ****.

Look how many stars Gilbert had.
Sometimes. But they usually do. They’re also the only metric that exists in measuring Talent. So we SHOULD be looking at it, in addition to other nice tools, like actually watching film. Which fewer and fewer coaches actually do anymore.

Name a better metric…?

He’d probably want to go to a more pass oriented offense than ours.

In regards to throwing 7 figures, I just don’t think the boosters around here are keen on the idea of throwing that kind of cash at players. Thing to remember with NIL it’s not so much as how much money you got, it’s how much your willing to part with.

Just tell him that we've already named a bar in Nebraska City in his honor.

The one where lower star guys commit to us and they're underrated and higher star guys pass on us and go elsewhere and they're overrated. Duh
It’s just statistics. Not foolproof, but the chances of a 4/5* developing into NFL-caliber players (the ones necessary to compete for NCAA championships) are not a little better than 3* and lower, they’re standard deviations higher. Math doesn’t lie. It matters.

We’ve been on a steady diet of mediocre recruits for… since Cally/Bo. We’ve had noncompetitive classes for over a Decade now. And it’s not just because of coaching and development… goes both ways. Great coaches can make mediocre players better, to an extent. Fundamental lack of talent on the field will also make good coaches look like fools. Seen that too.
