One of the best college players I have ever seen. Pretty much carried that Kansas team to a championship. Just didn't get it done at Wake.

Yup. Seems like you need a very experienced assistant and the ability to recruit like Howard is doing at Michigan. Surprised Manning couldn't bring in more top recruits.

One of the best guys around. Just never clicked for him there. Wish him the best! I want to see Wake being consistently competitive at a high level, it's good for the conference. Now, they just have to go out and find the right fit for the program. Too bad ole' Roy already turned them down.

Manning was well liked but it all came down to the record and the attendance was at rock bottom. I would have kept Rusty Larue instead of Randolph Childress. You need some good assistant coaches trying to get good recruits and take a program to next level. With Manning growing up in Greensboro I was hoping it would work out.

There is a reason why a performance clause should be in every contract. Danny is a good example. Charlie Weiss is the best example , however. At least I think that was his name. ND football coach some years ago.

Weis made 65 million for a head coaching record of 41-49. This is the guy that has it figured out.

In pretty much every sport, great players very seldom make good coaches. It can happen but not very often. Usually, the bench jockeys seem to learn more about the game, strategies etc. or they may be those that run the team while playing such as PG's, QB's and Catchers.

An article I read has linked Wes Miller and the coach of eastern Tennessee as potential candidates.

I was one who thought the hiring from jump was kinda weird. Manning had yet to establish himself at Tulsa prior to jumping to Wake and the ACC.

I think Wake was happy with Dino as a basketball coach. It was the off the court stuff that did him in. I didn't realize Wes Miller's family were big Wake supporters. It might be worth taking a chance on him
