Danny Manning staying at Wake Forest, rendering this thread irrelevant.

Wes Miller (from UNC-G) has to be up there. Ryan Odom from UMBC. Shaka if Texas lets him go.
This was to be expected. I think if Shaka Smart is let go at Texas I think he would be an excellent hire for Wake Forest.

Any connections? The prediction has potential I would think.

Spend a year bulking up and eventually be the replacement of Omoruyi and be a true stretch four.

What a get that would be. Love Massoud's game.

His brother did mention him going to Rutgers was not going to effect his brother changing his mind. We will see what happens with Manning.

Pike needs to move mountains to get Massoud. He is EXACTLY what we need on this team -- a 6-8 forward who is athletic and can shoot.
If Massoud does end up at Rutgers, does that mean the potential grad transfer from Stony Brook is off the table? Also, is there is any serious interest in the JUCO center from Iowa Western CC as the third scholarship?

Massoud would be amazingggg. I really really wanted him. The brother commiting here can't hurt. Let's get some breaks going our way for a change!

That’s an interesting question ....but massoud is a high upside guy and really fits in well with the pieces we have. Has a real good handle and perimeter shot for a legit power forward

I like the idea of juco big ....so I would take one massoud or the grad transfer from SB

Mulcahy takes Shaq's ship.
Issa's ship is available now
Joey Downes was put on scholarship for the season. That becomes available after May.
I don't think people realize Rutgers had on 12 scholarships prior to Downes receiving one during the season.

It’s still 2 for next season. Downes being on scholarship brought it to 13 this past year. He’ll be taken back off, that’s one spot. Issa is another spot. Doorson’s spot opens and is filled by Mulcahy. So, only 2 are unfilled.

I know. Rutgers can bring in a total of 3 players for next year.

Why would you want him if massoud is on the table?

Here is what I was told last night:

There will be an announcement this week on whether Manning is staying or going. They don't even have an AD right now. New guy starts in May. Current guy retired and isn't hiring a new HC. None of the people who would know are saying anything

Isn’t there a huge buyout for danny manning being fired? Does wake have the funds ?

That's a bad situation. New AD starts in May. If they do fire Manning they could be without a HC for at about a month or more. With that uncertainty half the team and the recruits may want out.

So who is making the decision whether he stays or goes? I think this would work in favor of DM getting another year unless the new AD is willing to move up their start date. You would think he would have an opinion on this matter.

Seems like a strange situation with the retiring AD on the job for another 45 days until new AD John Currie takes over.

Here's an interesting tidbit....the new AD was at Tennessee during the last football search that turned into an embarrassment when Schiano was involved....then Tennessee fired him.

I would assume the retiring AD and the incoming AD are working together in the background in this decision.

My prediction:

They're gonna keep Manning and then have a nice year because somehow a team that has been just about as bad as we have this decade (save one tournament appearance) managed to keep pulling in quality recruits year after year. And I'm going to be pissed off about it all year.
