Dannen doesn’t even pull the strings. In the 21st century the only glimpse of stability was when TO was the AD in a transitional/temporary role. It’s a systematic problem when it happens continuously across multiple ADs and coaches.

TO had issues also when he hired Bo he had more experienced HC that were interested but when they had to keep Watson as OC and Ron Brown on they withdrew. Not saying there isn’t problems with the BOR etc..

Recruiting rankings can be misleading. Recruiting rankings can be way off outside of the high character stud athletes of which we hardly ever get. Secondly, rankings should be tiered. There's very little difference in talent between Nebraska and Utah at 44. We saw that in the bowl game. Nobody watched that game and said Nebraska obviously has better talent, but Utah is so much better coached. Same with Minnesota and Iowa.
Utah was more physical which made it seem like they had more talent.

Nebraska is no better than Minnesota, Iowa etc at bringing in the top 100 players. These are the ones most likely to succeed and have the most evaluation time. The difference between the 335th best player and the 1200th best player is non-existent.
On paper there is as wide of a gap between Iowa and Minnesota as there is ND and Nebraska
