Exactly what I was thinking. Almost as if they are angry that a good player from Auburn, Al. would defect to MSU.
Rowdey was just smart enough to know a real college baseball program when he saw it. He made a wise decision.
I believe those jerks were making sure he did not continue his hitting streak of games with a hit
Do you think any of their players really care about that? No. Hell...The first guy that hit him was from Puerto Rico. The next guy that hit him, hit him on 2-2 count. The third guy that hit him was from TN.
Do you think Butch would call for that? No, he was on State’s staff when Rowdey committed to us.
Do you think Hudson cares? Definitely not.
And why did the finally decide to throw at him as a senior?
This suggestion they were throwing at him on purpose is pretty dumb. Our players/coaches would’ve responded either verbally on with their actions has they believed they were throwing at Rowdey
He had 15 hits in 35 at bats from the first Ark game to the start of today's game. Hitting .429 over a 9 game stretch will boost your average a bit. He has done this every season of his MSU career; have bad ab after bad ab for the first 15 or 20 games, then suddenly become one of the toughest outs around.
Ok. I'll just chalk it up to ****** Auburn pitching then. Could be a more likely explanation. Either way, I bet Rowdey was glad to exit that ball park. And I bet he hopes we don't draw them in Hoover.

Starting? That’s all? Rowdy is a switch hitter. All 4 times the pitchers not only had to put forth effort to throw across the plate to pitch him inside, even more effort to hit him. Damn right they were on purpose. Ask yourselves if that happened to Mangum what would happen? If the ump didn’t handle it on the field each time after #2 we’d be pegging their asses too! I was glad to see Glavines kid had some class though. And TA made them pay by knocking the **** outta the ball. The ump was arguing back n forth with our dugout a few times hopefully that’s why, but I don’t think so. I’ve seen and felt what that ball can do sometimes to a guy, that’s ******** to let them keep tossing at him. IDC if it’s only an off speed, that ball can potentially do damage.
I saw a kid that played SS at USC years ago, the Cards drafted to replace Ozzie back in the day, anyway he took a 95+ fastball off the small intestine I think one night. Hit him in his left side. The next day he couldn’t play, couldn’t do **** all day for practice or bp. His entire side was purple. From his armpit to his hip, was sick looking. Had a softball sized welp where it hit him. Stitches and all. I’ve seen many broken noses up close not on tv and a broke orbital that almost ended a career. You just never know. I had two tampons stuck up my nose one night, ran the bases and finished the game.
I doubt Butch called for it. But I don’t put it past Lowder, Yellerwood, or any other alumni of their scum alumni. There’s no telling what they got in return. Money, hookers, blow, a 3 way with some single pregnant gal and her mama in the Opelika trailer park . A real classy bunch, they are.
Jay explained it on radio Sunday that the book on Rowdey is that he swings over low-inside corner breaking balls and that’s where everyone tries to pitch him. Since he’s a switch hitter, he’s getting a lot of breaking balls coming in at his lower legs and thus gets hit a lot.
