Just saw on social media that WVU is flirting with Dana for a return. Any truth to this? Or is this clickbait?

I haven't seen that. I've actually seen a lot of smoke that they are after a different former coach:

I think holgerson just left a t boone pickens, at houston...he seems like a no bs guy and don't want a rich lawyer or oil man telling him what plays to run and who to run them

All this movement is crazy. Too much for my mind to process. I know money comes into play, but dammit you gotta want to be here. If you don’t, get the hell out.

We don’t even know who we are rooting for anymore. Plus you can’t bank on a player, let alone a coach being here for more than one year. Heck of a way to build a program.

College sports are broken. Period.

I heard a national pundit say he thought RR back to WV was very likely.
They would be interesting. There was A lot of people mad when they lost the game against Pitt a win puts them in the .BSC.then the next day he went to Michigan. A lot of people felt and still feel ( relatives back there) that RR didn’t put his full effort preparing and coaching for that game.

Richie Rod could have made Morgantown a lifetime gig, but had an agent who had visions of grandeur for him and he ended up taking the Michigan job. Frost couldn’t make that flavor of offense work in the big 10. It took Big 10 defensive coordinators a season to figure out Denard Robinson. What Rodriguez wants to do on offenses is a nice fit for WVU in the big 12.

Local sports scribes identified Rodriguezs agent as being a bit of a villain in the story. There was a list of demands that apparently WVU did not fulfill, when in reality the only hangup was that some local coaches didn’t get comped to enter games. Definitely very arrogant on the way out the door. But if it ends up working out it’ll be kind of a prodigal son story.

Is Dana even interested in being a HC again?
Based on his one of his interviews it sounded like he enjoyed the idea of being a coordinator and not dealing with all of the stuff a HC does... which can only be more true with the NIL transfer chaos currently happening around the country.

DH if he is as blunt as he is true. Sounds like he has no interest in being a HC soon. He said it was so much fun not worrying about that stuff that he hates to deal with. The non football stuff.

I wish I could get a job that paid me 1.2 million per season and all I had to do was watch film, coach and hang out with other coaches. Very little *** kissing required of an OC. BTW, NU has outstanding benefits as well. The 1.2 million is the salary but the OC gets WAY more than that in other non-compensation benefits.

Conversely, I wouldn’t be Satt for $1.4M/ year

Being that much of a laughed-at dipshit loser (plus ugly, paunchy, chinless) is hard to put a price on

It ain’t Bill Belichick money, but $1.4 million a year in my small town would keep me filled with booze. And guessing my wife wouldn’t mind too much if a boozy broad flashed me a titty every once in a while (for a sizable tip) at the local golf course.

The whispers would be loud in a small town especially

Him staying when he’s getting paid anyway proves he has zero (maybe negative) dignity

Heck Kong would do it for $500 and the team would be unstoppable we’d get tired of so much winning 😉

The fact the sport relied on basically free labor while a few made millions and billions was the broken thing. And the fact that nobody thought to create some compromise to compensate players to limit the legal decisions is also broken. The sport was so lucrative because it wasn't paying the players. We will actually see some semblance of reason as the money gets spread around to the actual talent. Coaches will make less, have smaller buyouts, rosters will shrink, schools will require contracts but more players will get paid, instead of just a few guys seeing most of the money. Once more people are getting paid fairly, there will be less movement, and coaches will need to honor longer contracts if they want to be paid. Can you imagine playing RB, and the 2nd string is making 550k, and you aren't making anything? You would have to transfer right?

I'm guessing this already happens for you, at far less than $1.4 million a year. This is the beauty of small town and rural life. Natty lites and golf cart babes are cheap but worth it!
