It's been really quiet in regards to whether Collins will be on the team next year or not.
The conventional wisdom is he will transfer back closer to home, which is Atlanta TX.
Atlanta TX is kinda BFE in proximity to Power 5 programs.
SMU would be closest campus at 180 mi. and they are a little less than P5.
aTm, UT, UH, Baylor all 3-5 hr drive.
I don't think he can match his NIL at UK regardless of any transfer destination.
Might be the best way to help his family.
Oscar is probably what he's waiting on.
Kid is very replaceable but he's had a good attitude so I'd like to see him stay.

Just curious if all the NIL deals the UK players receive is that public information?

No. I don't think it is public information. I may be wrong but I don't think it is. I do know that it was reported Oscar received $2.7 mil last year but he probably didn't have to disclose that info... it was probably more of him just putting it out there because Oscar is a cool dude like that and doesn't try to hide everything. You can talk to him like a human and he'll converse right back with ya. 😂

I agreed wholeheartedly! Like that's the one guy I wouldn't **** talk for anything last year. That's a hard thing to deal with and still have to deal with playing basketball at a place called UK .

I'm indifferent I realize last year was a struggle due to him losing his father.

It's just really hard to see based on what we've seen so far that he will become a good player.

Skinny gets pushed around... not a good shooter. Racks up fouls at an insane rate. He's a Pogo stick with nothing else going for him.

As always would love to be wrong but guess I'm negative nancy this morning.

My dad died when I was 15. I didn't take it the same way as Collins. I still think there was something more going on.

I do think a senior Damion Collins would be really good, especially playing next to a junior Onyenso if that's the case. It would be very good for our continuity for 24/25 to have them as there aren't a lot of recruits that can start for us that year. It's basically Bidunga or bust.

Exactly! Plus the guy who was 15 wasn't a thousand miles from home with a little brother and mom. I'd be out of mind if I lost my father whether it b 6, 15, 22 or 40. I'd be devastated. In some ways it was prob good for DC to get up and have to do stuff everyday but on the other it was prob extra hard to get out the bed everyday while grieving. For the most part the basketball players you see at UK is just a game used tryin to get you to bigger and better places. But life is bigger than basketball and we as fans do take it way too seriously. Which u love it that we are like that in KY. Still, I also think it's ridiculous at times how crazy the fans really are. I didn't steal that from Calipari... Swear I didn't! It! 😂

I agree with this. 2 years ago my dad passed the day before I turned 37. I know I wasn't really back to normal at work for 3 months. I can't imagine what he felt at 18.

I agree, My dad passed when i was 19. I was lost for 2 to 3 years after that. Gave up football and found myself on a bus to Denver without a plan before getting help with depression on my dad. Turned it around after that but it was a bad few years. Man that was back in 84. Wow time flies.

I hope he is back, especially if Tshiebwe is gone. We will need multiple options inside.

Maybe between Onyenso, Collins, Bradshaw, and Ware Cal can find some semblance of a frontline.

I for one hope he makes a Nick Richards type jump as a Junior.

Collins would be an effective screen and roll and pick and pop guy. I’m not sure why we ever put him on the low block.

Idk. Wonder if as top 2-3, maybe even 1 guy at a lesser school, he can make as much as # 7-10 guy at UK. While KY certainly is more passionate about basketball than anywhere else, not a lot of big $ in the state.

If he's anywhere close to home, all the NIL money goes to football.

Collins wouldn't be a #1 guy anywhere in P5.

Hey man I like this story except for the death of your dad. You overcome it. That's something to b proud of. Overcoming any depression is a task, but to deal with it over a lost parent, especially one that obviously loved you or you wouldn't have prob been as depressed and giving up things. More power to you. It's hard to believe sometimes at the time things can get better over time but they can, or maybe we just learn how to deal with it. Either way the end result is that you can be happy again and find that happy place when sometimes we doubt it and see no light at the end of the tunnel. Good for you, man.
