Anybody watching that game? Its amazing watching this game and NO one is attempting to guard Paige or anyone even close to how they maul Clark. The difference is staggering the freedom of movement all the way up the court. Its a 6 point game and you don't see the same kind of defensive intensity we see against the Fever.

Unbelievable choke job by Dallas.

Up 4 with 18 seconds left. Get called for a reckless close out on a 3 which turns into a 5 point possession.

Then the game ends with their center chucking up a contested 3 with time running out.

Honestly I haven't watched hardly any games of other teams, and now I know why. My wife and I were both amazed at the lack of defensive intensity after watching the Fever vs Storm game last night, and Flajae wrapped all over Clark 90 ft from the basket. Watched the high lites of Olivia Miles game, (she's great by the way) but it sure didn't look like she was being pressured all out either.

How does the ball end up in their center's hands, 25 feet from the basket, with the clock running out? That is Paige's ball, period, but she never touched it.

A mistake the fever have made a few times this year as well. That ball has to be in CC22's hand or Mitchells in those situations.

I don't watch any other games besides the Fever and cc. I can imagine exactly what you are talking about. You hear people say "well cc is a great player so they have to play her tough" okay then why aren't they doing the same with the other good players? It's so obvious when watching players don't like her and work their *** off to try to shut her down. The three main reasons are, jealousy of cc's popularity, she's white and she's straight (probably a distant 3rd). That's about all it can be

Sorry but not buying that opposing coaches are employing strategies that are not focusing on actually winning games vs fever and rather are focusing on going after CC.

They see that distorting their defense to pressure CC is simply the best way to beat the Fever.
Head of snake type of deal.
It's a compliment to CC that coaches acknowledge that letting her run free is death.

Btw, it's not working as fever and CC are on a heater.

MJ ultimately beat bad boys " Jordan rules"...
CC will prevail.

For lots of them that's true. Still others like Flaujae, I think its the challenge of guarding her. I think there are players, (and she's one of them) who actually like and respect CC22. They gave big hugs after the game, I believe they were in contact during the last couple of years. I just thought it was crazy watching the game for awhile, and nobody really challenged anyone until they almost got into the paint. It was so odd given what we see in many Fever games.

True, BUT it took "da Bulls" putting the right pieces around MJ to get to those rings. Not sure the Fever are there yet, all though admittedly their bench has been playing better in their roles. Still missing some consistency from some, and still a big hole in backup post presence.

I didn't really read his post as saying, "other coaches aren't focusing on beating the Fever". My point was Paige is also a great player, some fans think better than CC22, (she currently has better odds at winning the MVP, as does Miles then CC22 according to Vegas odds), yet neither of them get the attention defensively that she does.

I don't mind watching these games when there is nothing on for me. Overriding theme is the WNBA and their broadcast partners need to upgrade the announcing. I can't listen to it. Just awful. Swoopes is on a 5 minute Angel Reese love fest, while the game is happening. Then, Angel blows a wide open transition layup and then radio silence.
Dallas did screw th pooch in this one.

Ball started with Paige, she made a risky cross court pass to start the possession and never got the ball back.

Dallas had a timeout left, I don’t know how the coach didn’t use it when the play broke down.

Bueckers didn't have a hot game. Might have been better off with Azzi or Arike; regardless that's speculation. Should have been in anyone else's hands but Kuier's.

Those players aren't pulling up for logo 3s. So they do play them tough when they're in their shooting range. Clark's shooting range is basically anywhere past half court.

Ya the second Shepard passed it away they should have called a TO. That would have given them 5 seconds.

Then why do they sometimes pick her up on the inbounds play after a made basket? They don't want the ball in her hands at all. Honestly I only watched a few minutes in the thirdQ but they weren't really guarding anyone until they got into the paint, and Paige can certainly shoot beyond the three point arc...

Admittedly the few times I've seen her play for Atlanta she seems to be more receptive to giving up the ball for the assist. Maybe when they signed her they laid down the law on some of her ball hogging on a crappy Sky team, and told her what her role would be. She still misses too many bunnies, but its not like its just her in the W who can' make a damn layup.

I don't know but hopefully, eventually everyone can move past the envy and all and just play. There are still tons of holding and grabbing cc going on but they seem to be calling more of it with cc going to the line more and more. Cc seems to be really getting into a grove.

Clark has a much much better look when she doesn't whine and go crazy about calls. You know it's hard for her when she IS getting held and grabbed a lot. But it's a way better look for her.

Cc just wants to play basketball, hopefully things will calm down and that's what she can do and everyone gets along (as good as possible :ROFLMAO: )

Atlanta has Rhyne and Gray. Chicago was pretty much just her and Cardoso.

Uh, they had some other players including Mabry, who is lighting it up big time playing elsewhere, top 3 or 4 in the league in scoring. The chemistry on that team was horrendous and Reese was certainly part of that, and "Spoon " let her do whatever, which probably had a lot to do with her getting fired.

Pretty sure they moved Mabrey the offseason before Reese arrived. She had Chennedy Carter her rookie year, but that was about it as far as shooting goes.

Nope. Mabrey was traded mid-season in 2024. She wanted the hell out of Chicago. But, I'm sure it had nothing to do with with Weatherspoon's "get Angel a double-double" offense.
So in the 2 years Reese was in Chicago she played with Mabrey for about 2 months.

And then she asked to be traded because of toxic the locker room was. Not all on Reese, Carter as well. But you could see games later in her rookie year where her team mates were tired of her mebound double doubles while they were getting run off the floor. There was one game where Spoon left her in the last couple of minutes because she needs another hoop and board to keep that dub dub streak alive and they were down like 15 with about a minute to play. Reese was in the lane frantically waving for the ball and her team mates passed it around the outside a couple of times and just ignored her. You could tell she was pissed.

Those double doubles were all Chicago had to stay relevant.

Reese wasn't wrong when she said they needed better players to compete, and that's why she was ultimately traded.

The Chicago FO was much more of an issue than Reese, IMO.

Because it's personal to them. After all, you have the world wide leader in woke, ESPN peddling garbage about Clark not taking a stand and endorsing the WNBA's agenda for all-inclusivity, up to and including transgender male players. Then you have the world wide leader re-enforcing the usual narrative that Fever fandom is racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and all of the other usual perceived bulls--t. Serve this up, and top it off with good old Cathy. You know, the one that stood Dan Patrick up and hit golf balls instead.

I agree. She has to calm down after getting called, and just accept the hard fact that White damn near bites off her lower lip before deciding not to challenge a call.

Fever are getting closer. They need the right seed and to be 100% healthy for the playoffs. New York not the same team they’ve been in the past. They look beatable. As does Vegas but they always seem to turn it on in the playoffs. Clearly Minnesota to me especially with Collier back look to be the deepest and best team. Valkyries look to be the team that gives the Fever a ton of trouble with their tough defense and team play.
