If you want to see animals in cages take your kid to the Dallas county jail. At least there the animals behind bars actually committed a crime.

Ok, now that that's off my chest, I've heard the Ft. Worth zoo and it's not even close.

Tell us more about this Fossil Rim! Is it a pretty good park?
The website made it look really neat, it must be pretty popular because all the cabins on the property are booked on weekends till mid December. Can't remember the little town it's in but it's by a state park with dinosaur tracks in it an hour west of Dallas.

Dallas Zoo is a lot better than it was, say, 5 years ago. They've spent a lot of money there and it is now run by a non-profit rather than City of Dallas, which helped with the focus. I won't say it is better than Fort Worth's, but it's pretty darn good now. I haven't been to Fort Worth's in about 7 years.

Fossil Rim is really cool, it's been there a long time. Dinosaur Valley state park is about a mile down the road so if you drive all the way out there you hit them both.

Regarding "being booked", there are about 1000 places to stay in or around Glen Rose, staying in the park is not necessary at all.
