Talented guy, just acts like a prick occasionally and seems to thrive on online beefs and twitter feuds. Outkick seems like the perfect spot for him.

I always thought Dakich was as pretty good calling games and never sugar coated anything especially bias toward UNC and Duke. Never played favorite for Indiana that’s for sure. One of the better ESPN guys IMO. Guys like Bilas need to leave. They suck on the Corporate/Duke/UNC tit 24/7/365.

Yup. Screw Bilas. Dude toes the line. Dakich just told the truth.

I love listening to Dakich. He is the only espn announcer not scared to say anything bad about duke. He tells it like it is and doesn't give a **** what the espn big wigs think. Best announcer in the business. I would love to see him and Walton teamed up. I know a lot of you don't like Walton, but I assure you he knows 1000 times as much about the game than the ones that hate on him. The only thing I wish he would do is stop telling me 100 times a game that the Pac-12 is the conference of champions, although I would rather hear that than hear 100 times a game how great duke is.

I"d take listening to Dakich over any other broadcaster. Can't stand Bilas as of late, he is the anti-Dakich. More worried about being PC and riding the wave of whatever sports related cause is en-vogue at the moment.

Not surprisingly I liked Billy Packer as an announcer too. Maybe my favorite was Al McGuire but I'm really aging myself now.

WHAT?? I liked your post except this nugget. I don't think I've ever heard any commentator as openly biased against a team as Packer was about Kentucky. Probably my least fav tv sports guy ever. IDK, maybe we just remember Packer differently.

I know he grated on people and was accused of being an ACC homer - more UNC than Duke but
that never bothered me. Since I can remember watching college ball, there has been no shortage of people trying to tell me how great the ACC is. Now we have Louisville fans trying to do it.

I liked that he would describe basketball fundamentals to the viewers - a zone or isolation and what to expect from an X's and O's. They replaced him with Clark Kellogg who was more about making up words like spurtability (ugh)

I can remember Packer calling plays ahead of time before they happened and really educating the viewer on the game. I also remember him referring to us about to go on a run saying "now is when you'll see those Kentucky thoroughbreds". Packer had a lot of Dakich in him too, he had zero tolerance for nonsense, unfortunately I think that spilled over into his views on women sportscasters and from what I understand he didn't care for Dick's Vitale's announcing style.

I think what did him in was telling the audience a UNC/Kansas game was over with about 8 minutes left and CBS could hear channels changing all over the nation.

But I completely understand why some people didn't like him, just like some don't like Dakich.

I'd just prefer the old cigar chewing, angry at the world , we don't need no pretty dames on the sideline asking stupid questions announcers doing play by play.

Yep, he was the one guy there who’d mercilessly rip on Duke. He totally got why folks like us hated Duke …the only ESPN guy who did seem to get it. Perhaps why he’s no longer an ESPN guy.

Knowing Bilas is a Dookie, you know he's beyond biased, just like Hubert Davis and Digger Phelps.

Dakich is a Knight disciple, so you get what you expect.

This is way off base. Dakich has been very clear that he and Knight don’t like each other and haven’t spoken in decades. Quite the opposite of a “disciple.”

He's represents a problem with America. He doesn't "tell it like it is". He's a butthole who tells it like a butthole thinks it is.

And where are you living where you can't find buttholes giving their opinion. They're on the news. They're on YouTube and Facebook. They're in this thread and on this website.

Also, there are two parts to saying your opinion. What it is, and how you say it. If an official makes a bad call, he says it. But then he keeps harping on it. 5 minute later he's still blasting a ref from 4 possessions back.

This is a great career move for Dan Dackich. He is hooking up with the hottest voice in talk radio, Clay Travis who with his cohost, took over for the greatest in radio history. RUSH

ESPN will not miss Dan Dackich and he will not miss them. To work for ESPN you must be ultra WOKE and Dackich is about as unwoke as you can be.

I thoroughly enjoy the "Outkick Network" and look forward to Dan joining. Very good news for me.
