I live in the Detroit area and see that Dakari has a brother named Kamani playing for U. Detroit Jesuit a top high school team in the country. He is a 6'5 sophomore and very good. It states he moved here from KY. Is this news to anyone.

Pretty sure that Johnson's family moved to Lex. to be close to him while he was at UK. Don't quote me on this, but I thought I read somewhere that during his time in Lex. Kamani played for Sayre.

DANG! Good luck to you. (I grew up in Rouge, born in Monroe.) You'd have thought if Dakari's family had left that area they'd have never went back. (My older Brother and Sister still live in Michigan but not in that area.)

Thanks though for the basketball info. Once a Cat, always a Cat (even family) :)

I don't think they left that area and then went back. His family is from NY. They've lived in Lexington once before when Johnson was in middle school. That's when he fell in love with UK. They then moved back up north where Johnson started playing high school ball in NJ (same team as MKG), before finally moving to Florida to finish out his high school career.

I would be very happy to see Dakari go strolling out on the floor the next time we play. He helped us during our championship run two years ago.

Dakari was slow footed and once his feet left the paint he was in no mans land on defense but damn... You just can't teach B.I.G. He sure didn't get pushed around a lot and he hustled. He didn't have the talent that the rest of our main guys did but he was huge, literally and hustled.

Side note. What's his brothers game like?

Thanks for the info, I misunderstood. I go to visit my family every few years and they come to visit me but I'd never move back to that place given a choice....

My son played against Dakari's brother and his mom at the High St Y. Said he was slow and got abused. Their mom could hold her own.

Honestly I thought DJ would not have played anymore this year, but in the present with Skal's struggles then yeah DJ would be starting C.

Dakari played in Lexington for a while, and then went to NY. I believe he was playing for Sayre, while here. Wish he had stayed another year. We could use him.

I wish Dakari had came back this year. Man he may have been a force this year. And we need that toughness.
