The McCaskey’s are not football people, they own a football team. To their credit and like many other teams, they sought out advice from a well respected NFL consultant, Ernie Accorsi, to help guide their choice for the current GM. The hire was hailed by many in the league. They hired someone many felt was capable, they gave him the resources he wanted and they stayed out of his way. What more can you ask from an owner? If it doesn’t work out, it’s not because of the McCaskeys.

No need for McCaskey's to sell but seeing how they're clueless from football and/or business perspective how about giving some serious decision making authority to someone from the Ryan/McKenna camp. They own 20% of the team. I certainly would trust their business choices a little more.

What does Ted Phillips do exactly lol??

Not putting those cities down, but Cleveland and Buffalo combined don't have half the population of Chicago. Chicago is a big-city market that its sports owners treat as if it's a Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Buffalo. And Pittsburgh actually has been more successful in football and hockey over the past several decades.
Chicago has like 8 championships in my lifetime. Cleveland 1. Buffalo zero. Are you talking population? Market? # of franchises? General haplessness of the franchises? At what point would you consider them "worse"? By your logic, Mich football is less successful than NU because we beat OSU as often as they do, and they are better resourced.

Depends on your age, I guess. I calculate 6 Bulls, three BlackHawks, one each Sox and Cubs. Did I miss something?

Ted Phillips manages the business operations. Hard to argue that he hasn’t done a good job on that end. The club is worth a couple of billion dollars, they play in a nice tax payer funded stadium with attractive revenue sharing arrangements, their season ticket waiting list is long, and the Bears merchandising and logo is historically among the top selling in the NFL. It’s hard to argue with what the McCaskey’s have done from a business perspective lately.

Phillips became the golden child when he pulled off the stadium deal. Not my idea of a good idea but it has served the McCaskey family very well.

That's the thing. I figured he would have moved on once the stadium deal was done. We're pushing 20 years now.
