2. Stanton great win against Crofton a top team
3. Sandy Creek great team great coach got out athleted by JB will see what happens when they play in playoffs
4. Crofton got housed by Stanton but is solid team will see how good they are against H-N
5. EMF played tough against top team JB and beat some good competition
6. Ravenna hasnt been tested yet but will week 9

I think this take is interesting................Crofton played Stanton without their best player (Allen) and their next best player (Jackson) got hurt part way through the game. Would Stanton still have one that night, I believe so. Is Stanton so superior to Crofton that they are in a different category, absolutely not.

It's funny that people saw Sandy Creek get beat and said, "they'll still win it." Crofton played in the final last year, and they have back a majority of that group. Don't sell them short.

This is a fun class this year.

Allen is a good high school football player, definitely would have made a difference on the defensive edge for Crofton. But saying he is their best player is a stretch. Tyson Jackson is hands down their best football player. And I am not sure Jackson was hurt, as much as dealing with cramps that game as he still found a way to carry the ball 38 times for 333 yards....

Fair point! I think Allen is their best DEFENSIVE PLAYER, and I did not say that. Jackson is definitely their dude when they have the ball.

Before I say this.. There are legit 5-6 teams that are capable of winning D1 this year. Its amazing how much different some of these teams look to start the year and how they look at the end of the season.

One of my best friends has a son who plays for Sandy Creek, he texted me before the johnson brock game and told me that "half" the team had the flu. Including the QB who is their entire engine. it was also one of the hottest days of the year.
Regardless that happens sometimes and its got to be next man up and Johnson Brock is a dangerous team and made the plays needed. We will see which teams make the improvements as the long season progresses.

I didnt know Crofton was down a couple guys vs Stanton. Thats some interesting context too. 8 man seasons are a grind and its fun to watch.

Sandy Creek plays Ravenna in a couple weeks. That will be a very telling one. Great teams this year.

It's nice to see the latest coaches poll give Stanton the credit they deserve and move them over Sandy Creek. They have handled multiple very solid teams and I think will continue to roll through the playoffs. It'll be interesting to see how the playoff seedings shake out over the next few weeks! Hoping they are 1-2 with JB as I think those are the two best teams. I think Ravenna belongs in the same conversation as Stanton as well.

Agree with your thoughts here - especially about Stanton. Well coached team - kinda flying under the radar right now imo. My only issue with your post is that you didn't even mention Sandy Creek. They have a loss, but the returning champs have to be in the conversation I would think.

Just not sure on them. I know how talented they are but they've already shown they're vulnerable. I'd have them at #4 behind JB, Stanton, Ravenna. We'll know more next week, but regardless of that outcome I just don't think they're as consistent on either side of the ball this year and could see them having a repeat of the JB game in the playoffs

In what world would anyone in D1 "WANT" to face SC? Disclaimer, I think there's 3-4 teams that have a shot at winning D1, sure, but acting like Sandy is not in the driver's seat is wild to me. Would be a rematch nightmare for JB and JB is most deservedly a top 2 team alongside them, could argue "better" even based off head-to-head. But a rematch? Come on.

My top D1 chances at a title, tiered.

Sandy Creek
Johnson Brock
------
Stanton
Ravenna
------
Crofton

Itll be interesting to see how the brackets come out. Definitely no easy path to Lincoln this year. Whoever makes it will have gone through the tests and earned it
