D1 Reseeding Round Projection (just for fun)

So from what I hear points are not given for the first round games to go towards the reseeding. Every team will keep their current power points for the reseeding. Just a guess of who I think will win. If there are any obvious bad predictions for games let me know.

No. After the qualifying round, the whole state will be re-seeded in a 16 team bracket. Higher seed teams will host regardless of what happened in the qualifying round.

After the first round of the 16 team final bracket, the higher seed will host unless their opponent played away in the first round. If they both played away then the higher seed will host.

Huskin you got it right....This is from the NSAA manual under Class D-1 Football Playoffs...

Host School

• In the first round of the play-offs, the team with the highest point average will host. If the schools have identical point averages, the point system tiebreaker will be used to determine the host school.

For 2nd round, quarterfinal and semifinal games, the following procedure will be used:

• If the two teams both hosted their previous game, the team with the highest point average will host. If their point averages are the same, the team with the higher seed will host
• If the two teams were both visitors in their previous game, the team with the highest point average will host. If their point averages are the same, the team with the higher seed will host.
• If one team was a visitor and one team was a host in their previous game, the team which was a visitor will host.

Not a fan of that at all. What's the point of seeding based on regular season if you aren't going to let the teams that took care of business in the regular season. No reason Tri Co. or Cross County who will be the top 2 seeds in the final 16 should have to play on the road in the second round. Dont agree with that at all. SMH

I do agree with you, but if you are going to compete or win a state title you HAVE to win on the road at some point with the system the NSAA uses. I look at it like this I'd rather be on the road for second round to a potential "lesser opponent" then be on the road against "some dogs" in a quarterfinal game. Purely my thoughts, the system is always going to be broken to someone in someway.

We could go back to last year, Cambridge was one of the best D-1 football teams in the last 10 years. With probably the two best players in the state with Ross and Huxoll. They had to go on the road to Burwell, it didn't benefit them in any fashion. Give credit where credit is due Burwell dominated them at home and squeaked out another tight one at home against Dundy County. If Cambridge gets them them at home I am confident that they don't just win that game, but it is in dominating fashion just like what they did to Neligh-Oakdale the week before, at home. These are just examples I see in the area of football that I cover.

Home field advantage is a real thing, I have always thought if you are the higher seed you should ALWAYS host. That should be the benefit of playing a tough schedule and scoring large amounts of power points and being the "superior team".

Not all things are equal. Not all geographic locations are equal. I have a hard time with favoring a team over another due to our points system. I don't think it's diversified enough.


In 8 man football 3-5 and 5-3 teams are considered equal with point allotments. 0-8 is considered the same as 2-6.

I disagree that a team who "earned" their way in the regular season should host the whole way through.

I think each record should be considered it's own "division". I've thought that for quite some time, but we don't have that, so we use what we use. There is no perfect system because not all things are equal

5 wins = 35
4 wins = 34
3 wins = 33
2 wins = 32
1 win = 31

Beating a team with
7 wins = 50
6 wins = 49
5 wins = 48
4 wins = 47
3 wins = 46
2 wins = 45
1 win = 44
0 wins = 43

Using a system like this i'd be more for letting the top seed host each round. I'd also put a stipulation that you have to be within 3-4 seeds to host the school seeded ahead of you.
