he's much better than any of our bigs. Pope could have kept his commitment but I mean who can compete with Georgia for basketball recruits.
He plays with a level of toughness that our guys severely lack.
I think you missed about half of them if you counted 12.
Cyril outplayed everybody on UK's team. More heart than any of our bigs put together.
Heard from reliable sources that JQuit looked down the schedule after the Bellarmine game and saw Chinyelu and Cyril was on deck, and his knee swelled in fright!
I verbally counted all the uncalled UGA fouls on our drives to the basket and in rebounding situations. I stopped 10 minutes into the game at around 70.

Agreed... the refs weren't the reason for this loss, but the officiating in college basketball is just awful and there's no accountability.
Calipari never had 22 mil at Kentucky but he was able to get Cyril and JQ…. Yeah his last 5 years results were terrible but at least with him you would have a hope that he would reload and Have another deep tournment run…

Apparently Pope can't compete with anyone for recruits currently.
Had the chance to keep him he literally begged to stay in Lexington but Pope hired his awesome coaching staff.
He fouled MM 2 times in our first possession without a call. It was a Mike White test to see how the game was going to be called and it worked out in their favor. MM was timid after that and it showed.
He was definitely tougher than our guys and caused us problems.
He probably wasn't viewed as a spacing fit for Pope. But Garrison and Moreno don't really help our spacing either. If you're going to have have guys that either clog the paint, or aren't a threat to shoot it--may as well have the best rebounders and shot blockers you can get.

Cody Feuger has done nothing but tweet BOOM for 2 years. Mark Fox sucks. Alvin Brooks is an "ace recruiter". Who has 0 2026 recruits. Amazing staff. "Hello, Im coach Mark Fox, I won 4 games in a season once. Here's why your son should come play under me".
Obviously it was his own decision, I'm saying Pope had an opportunity to re-recruit him. Instead he's playing for another SEC team and killing us.

True, but if toughness is a foul, then he should've been on the bench with foul trouble, which he wasn't.
That was a big factor in the game. I think Mo & Moreno could've been used in the post more if Cyril was on the bench in foul trouble.
It wasn't the only reason the Cats lost, but horrendous officiating allowing guys like Cyril to foul excessively has ruined the game in many aspects.

I'm not taking anything personal, this is a discussion board for college sports. I may have "no idea" what Pope did or didn't do, but I know Cyril decomitted. So either Pope didn't try, or he lost out to Georgia.
and I will repeat- that is incorrect. You have no way of knowing what Pope did or didn't do or why - all we know is he is at Georgia.... ever ask yourself if he is so great, why he had to go to Georgia? Why Georgia actually benched him earlier in the year and has cut his minutes? We lost, he had a good game, it happens.....
Somoto was the difference in the game.He owned the middle. He scored more than all of our 4's and 5's together.
I agree that he owned the paint. My point is he shouldn’t have been in the game because he should’ve been in foul trouble if fouls in the game were called even remotely close to the rules.
However, EVEN WITH that in mind, had the Cats played better team defense, they could’ve overcome that. But you can’t lose the paint AND the perimeter and expect to have much of a chance…maybe if there was a huge turnover margin?
If he wasn’t scoring or rebounding his primary focus was setting moving screen after moving screen and slapping at the ball on defense and going over the back. He literally fouled 3 times on the first possession of the game and I said if they allow this the whole night we lose. It was the worst I’ve ever seen in 30 years. And why on earth did we not check the first goaltending call of the game it was an easy 2 points.
And I agree he should only played about 10 minutes due to the fouls.
I bitched about that GT call the entire game. Very obvious. Pope should have blown a gasket.
